Waterfront Getaway

We stayed here for three nights with our dogs in October, and are going back for New Years. The hotel is a hidden gem; older, rarely busy, with positive, consistent staff and incredible views. It sits a short distance from the Queen Mary, and the deluxe waterfront rooms are spacious, very clean, with panoramic views of the Long Beach harbor and skyline. For dog owners, the path, right along the water, is perfect for walking, and the staff are accomodating and easygoing with your dogs. Room service is a bit pricey, but very good. There is a one-time fee of about 50 dollars to stay with your pets, which is not a bad deal.
For four nights, at New Years, my rates will be about $640 for a deluxe waterfront room, so this hotel is a winner in my book. They are slated for remodeling in 2008, so the rates will surely go up after that. Right now, it's perfect: low-key, comfortable, quiet, and right on the water.

Loved the Coast Long Beach Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Bethorla

Stayed overnight after giving my husband a 50th Birthday...hotel was in walking distance from location and it was wonderful, they allowed us to check in early and the view from room/balcony was just magnificant. The bed was the best we've slept on in ages...so good that I had to ask what type of mattress they used. If you want to get away without going a long way, I recommend this hotel, close but just secluded enough - Enjoy!

The Coast Long Beach Hotel is Wonderful!

by TripAdvisor Member Nomossgrows

We arrived Thursday late afternoon. The check-in was smooth, the staff were friendly and helpful. A map directed us to our building (there are several identical buildings on the property, with parking nearby). The room was very clean, well supplied and quite comfortable. We paid a little bit more ($140) for a bay view room, which was well worth it (see pictures). A minor cosmetic flaw is that a bit of the wallpaper is lifting from the granite baseboard in the bathroom; I can certainly live with that!

The heater/cooler system is the long type placed under the patio window tend to be a bit noisy. Ours worked well to heat up the room for a short while then we just turned it and the room maintained a steady temperature for the night. The bed is also very comfortable (Cal King in our case), not too firm nor too soft -- it was just right for someone who has had a couple of back surgeries! My favorite perk is the free Wi-Fi in each room.

The property has an unusually shaped pool with a maximum depth of 5.5 feet, a volleyball area and a tennis court. There are also multiple conference rooms and a gorgeous Lobby. One can also take a harbor tour right outside the hotel, and walk to the Reef Restaurant. We did not try the hotel's restaurant the Oceana this trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here, albeit for just one night. We can't speak for the weekend, but Thursday night was terrific! I highly recommend this hotel!

A bit of Mayan in Long Beach

by nkhong about Hotel Maya

A comfortable hotel located right on Long Beach, it over looks the harbour. The rooms are large and comfortable and comes fully equipped with coffee machine, and even speaker dock for your iPod. The staff is friendly and helpful except you will need to take your own luggage to the room. There is a great path the leads from back of hotel all the way down the water front. Be sure to bring your camera for some good pictures. They have a great outdoor jacuzzi that is great for evenings.

Great hotel

Recently returned from a cruise with NCL and a stay at the Coast Long Beach hotel.
This hotel is amazing from the hotel staff to the location. The hotel staff is very attentive we booked the drive and cruise package which allowed us to leave the rental car on hotel property and provided us with a driver to the cruise ship terminal. The hotel provides free service to Carnival but not to NCL due to the distance and traffic but the 25.00 dollar charge for the driver was minimal compared to the 12.00 dollar a day charge for parking at the cruise ship terminal. The breakfast buffet included in the package was an additional treat.
The Queen Mary is a short walk (10-15 min) from the hotel. There are several good restaurants in the Queen Mary and afterward take a walk thru the hotel hallways, kinda eery.
The Coast Long Beach hotel is located on the water and most of the rooms have a view of the water. This is definetly one hotel that I would go back to.

Wow, what a view

by TripAdvisor Member SingyCumbria

The Coast Hotel gave a brilliant view, certainly so if you get a bayside room. The Queen Mary is docked just further along the coast and adds to the glam aura of the surroundings. At night the colourful lights that spread around the bay were a sight to behold. The hotel itself is first class, the room, main lobby, dining area, and pool were all spotless. We felt we had found a real gem on the USA west coast. The only problem is accessing the place by road, but it is very much worth the effort.

Very Nice, Very Clean

by A TripAdvisor Member

This hotel is simply beautiful. As you enter through the front doors the first thing you notice is the exceptionally shiny tile floor. The hotel is very clean. The bathroom was extra clean with sparkling marble shower and floor. The pool was very clean and sitting on the pool deck you have a wonderful view of the bay and the Queen Mary, which is beautifully lit at night. The staff was very courteous and prompt. The food was fabulous. The view across the bay was very relaxing as we watched huge yachts come in and out of the harbor. The hotel has a small but adequate gift shop.

Awesome View - Excellent Location

by TripAdvisor Member DJMunich

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Coast Hotel Friday to Saturday night (1 night) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked early (got a great price), and were given, as requested, an amazing room with a beautiful view of both downtown Long Beach & the Harbor (see pictures). The room itself was clean, well kept and nothing out of the ordinary (albeit nothing extraordinary either).

The room & the building it was in appeared somewhat dated - which is something they could improve upon. What should have been a small pond below our room was also empty, and the fountain adjacent to it wasn't running - therefore more swamp-ish than anything else. Besides these small and somewhat insignificant irregularities, the view out of room, along with the location - was absolutely perfect.

My pictures, which are relatively self-explanitory, are attached.

Value for money with great views

by A TripAdvisor Member

We had booked this hotel after reading the glowing reports from this site. On arrival, we were disappointed that the area appeared to be very industrial, the rooms appeared to be more motel than hotel, our room was on the ground floor and had no real outlook, the air conditioning was noisy, there was litter on our patio and the car park was full. The furnishings however were comfortable and the rooms were clean.

These first impressions however were unfair. Ok, the room had no great view, but we had been late booking and not able to acquire a bay view room. Overall the room was a good size, there was a king sized bed, sofa, coffee table refrigerator, a marble tiled bathroom, TV with HBO and coffee making facilities. It was value for money.

At the end of the block the view was fabulous, the Queen Mary in one direction and across the bay, the cityscape was beautiful. The restaurant and bar were fairly pricey, but you didn’t mind because it gave you the opportunity to take in the view. (The food was decent, but not brilliant.)

The hotel was within walking distance of the Queen Mary and the availability of free buses into town and the water taxi and meant that the quiet position of the hotel did not mean isolation. After dark we felt safe to wander around, in order to explore and visit other restaurants. We stayed at the Coast 2 days, but were sorry that our visit here wasn’t longer

Not at the weekends

by TripAdvisor Member blot57

Arrived on a Friday afternoon along with several trucks towing powerboats. Check in was smooth but not with a smile.

The view south or east is brilliant, either Queen Mary or the beauty of Long Beach skyline. North or west the view is of an immense container port. However, it feels very safe.

Room was clean but not the largest I've seen for two double beds, bathroom was clean, all of the stuff was there, but not a lot of floor space.

The air-conditioning was the only thing louder than the power boats.

Buffet breakfast at $10 each was sound and was enough for our varied tastes.

The lunch and dinner menu is limited, but what we had tasted nice.

We took the car out of the car park on Saturday morning, not a chance of getting it back Saturday evening, the power boat grand prix and two weddings at the hotel attracted the notice of Long Beach Fire department who closed the parking area There's not any other places to go with a car. Definitely unimpressed.

Come Sunday evening - lots of parking space as in the following week. Check out -easy.
