Dockside Boat and Bed Long Beach

Fabulous and unusual lodging in Long Beach

Dockside Bed & Boat rocks! Some friends and I were in town for a conference, and 12 of us rented out all 4 boats (which also conveniently made it much cheaper than staying in a hotel.) We liked all the boats, and the managers were even kind enough to let us have an engagement party while we were there. Our guests mostly hung out on the large dock, where they have tables and chairs, and we also decorated each boat with a different theme. When you stay at Dockside, don't expect the Ritz, as the boats aren't too new and have a slightly funky feel to them, just roll with it and enjoy the unique experience.

All the boats have flat screen TVs and DVDs and wireless internet access. They also provide a substantial continental breakfast. Kim, the manager, is super nice, and she'll help you with anything you need. The guest rooms on each boat aren't as nice as the master bedrooms, but they're fine.

Crown Jewel - this boat has a fake but cool fireplace and a great kitchen. I slept like a baby in the king bedroom on this boat. In this boat, you have to walk through the 2-bed guest room to get to the 1-bed guest room, and the guest shower is tiny. There's an open deck with a table & chairs.

Perfect Landing - both bedrooms on this boat are nice, and it has a great closed patio with a large dining table and chairs. I think it's as nice as the Crown Jewel, just different.

Sea Peepers - since this boat has a lot of brass furnishings inside, it looks a little like a pimped out 60's lounge. But it's pretty new and quite nice. We had planned to have 2 people sharing the guest room, but the 2 beds actually share a common foot (in a V-shape) and there's not enough room for 2 people unless they're under age 5. The separate dining area is convenient.

Archangel - this is, appropriately, the cheapest boat. It smelled a little musty when we came in, but the spray helped. The guest room has a very low ceiling, but the main room is fine. Even though it's my least favorite of the boats, I still strongly prefer it to any hotel.

Unique Quality: They're boats! Great harbor views from Crown Jewel & Perfect Landing, TVs/DVD players, breakfast. And the location can't be beat. Customer service is A+++.
