Is pine ave the right area to go out at in the evening? Not sure at all would really appreciate some advice.

I haven't really spent any time in the evenings in Long Beach. I think you will find a better nightlife scene in Santa Monica. At least, you will find trendier clubs, restaurants, beautiful people, etc. Otherwise, Hollywood is where you really want to go to experience nightlife. There are clubs for every kind of musical tastes - Rock, Rap, Latin, Jazz, Disco, Techno, Country - So, you need to figure that out first. Unless, you're idea of nightlife is bowling and movies.
I'm sure there is something in Long Beach - just be careful - there are some iffy areas in Long Beach, too!

pine ave is fine as long as you don't venture too far away from there.
it's a lively place with some good restaurants and clubs.
Long Beach has some great nightlife spots. Definitely check out Pine Street. It has a few clubs, bars and restaurants. You can also go about a 1/2 mile down pine to shoreline drive and go to The Pike. There is another club here and a bar called Mai Tai that usually has a live band on the weekends. Normally its a reggae band, but they do switch it up also. You can also go down to 2nd st. This place has a row of bars. All have cool places to kick it at, just really depends on what you are looking for.. hope this helps..

That people don't bother you when you laying out in the sun. It's a nice quiet place, clean with no bums around to nag you. You can wade in the shallow water for miles from the left to the right, what's you pleasure? That people keep it clean, and even when we were out playing they had a "Long Beach attacks trash". Just nice and peace in general.
Visit the hang out places like 2nd Street or Pine Street both are very busy on Saturday but then again that is the best time visit too. Christmas time in Naples Island. There is a lighted boat parade and the houses really do it up nice. The local home association even has a contest for the best lighted house.
Long Beach is very nicely light up in the evenings...
try to check out the Long Beach Beachfest. The Beachfest is a yearly event that takes place near the Shoreline Village, on the water. A two day festival filled with great music and food! Usually, the music ranges from jazz and blues to reggae/ska. It is a really nice way to relax during a warm June day. Remember to bring a blanket or something to sit on in the grass!! Unlike many other music festivals, it is a fairly mellow festival. Common Sense has been playing at this festival for the past several years!
