Sorry, I tried. Only thing I can come up with is the names of the four oil islands are named after the four astronauts that died, - but you likely already know that....d;o)

I visited Long Beach on the saturday after Thanksgiving.There have been not many people around and I found a perfect parking lot next to the Long Beach Arena.Wyland;artist best known for painting large,outdoor murals of whales and other ocean life.Wyland whaling wall at the Long Beach Arena was completed on May.3 1992 and is whaling wall Nr.33.It is a 10story depiction of ocean life.I am glad he did it because it was beautiful to see this art. The walk around the harbour.
Residents of Southern California enjoy mild weather during the winter months. This picture of downtown Long Beach was taken on March 3. The air temp was 73 degrees and the water temp was a chilly 55!
During the spring and summer temps range from 70-90 degrees. Many people compare the climate here with those of Italy and Greece.
Southern California is one of the few places where it is possible to surf and snow ski in the same day. My friends and I tested this claim to fame one spring day and discovered that it is logistically possible with minimal planning and even less sleep!
Ethnic/Cultural Diversity
Long Beach can be considered the most diverse city in the U.S. There is a range of races and ethnicites, mostly generalized as white, black, latino and asian. Within the group (about 15 percent) of Asian-Americans, a significant Cambodian population can be found in L.B, especially along Anaheim St.
Beyond race, there is a big presence of gay and lesbians. The annual Long beach Lesbian and Gay Pride parade is a popular event held in downtown.
It's a dog's life and scene in Belmont Shore. Throughout the year, there are many dog related events, like parades exclusively for them and their human companions.
Though offcially there is no dog beach, Belmont Shore has a reserved spot just for doggies to roam near the waves, between Roycroft and Argonne (Aves). Parking is available from Ocean Ave at Bennett Ave.
So, take notice humans. Dogs rule Belmont!
The Pyramid , built in 1994, is a sport and architectural landmark in Long Beach. In this arena, teams from Cal State Long Beach play. If not into sports, think of this place as an museum on the outside and take pictures :-)
