They still charged us when we didn't stay there!!!

My husband and I we're planning a trip to Long Beach for our anniversary weekend, we booked it with The Vagabond Inn, shortly after my husband got a call from his Sergeant saying he had to work (he's in the Army) so that ruined our weekend plans. We called The Vagabond Inn back to cancel within 20 minutes.. THEY STILL CHARGED US FOR OUR STAY, when I called he said "no, you never called and cancelled." I was so upset first off because we didn't get our vacation and then they wouldn't credit the money back to our account... I was so upset, I will never recommend this place, so inconsiderate!!!

What are your travel interests ? Exactly how long will you be in California ? Gary

Manhattan Beach is the best, and when I lived in LA (many moons ago) had the most swinging night life - attracted many professional athletes and overall party people. It's still my favorite.

A couple of general links for San Diego: (1) For Events, etc: www.whatsonwhen.com,(2) For Restaurants: www.sandiegorestaurants.com.(3) Restaurants, Part II, you might look specifically at the Sunday Brunch held in the Crown Room, at the Del Coronado Hotel: www.hoteldel.com/dining/crown.cfm, & the Pacifica Del Mar Restaurant: www.pacificadelmar.com. They have a wine night & also have a lot of dining specials at very good prices. A HUGE general site for Las Vegas: www.a2zlasvegas.com. I usually do web sites because it gives you so many more options. If you find something of interest, you can always ask another question in the forums. Gary

redodndo beach is right next to hermosa beach.
it's praticly the same neighbourhood.

on the way to huntington beach you might want to consider newport beach.
just be aware that newport beach is not cheap.

Travel Tips for Long Beach

The docks area

by TinKan

As anyone knows our favorite thing to do when we travel is to go to the local zoos and aquairums where ever we go.

Long Beach has plenty of both to keep you entertained. A nice place to go is to the docks area as this is where the aquairum and the Queen Mary as well as a few other places of interest.

Long Beach Tip

by Krystynn

You'd never believe Long Beach is this beautiful until you actually come here. Really.

Come along with me as we experience the awesome sensations found only in fairy tales. We'd board a historic ship aptly called - the 'Queen Mary' and relive portions of it's haunted(??) past.... Gaze at those commonly threatening marine life through a comforting glass barrier (phew!).... And surround ourselves with art and culture through its magical exhibits and colorful fiestas.

How can anyone not enjoy living here?

If you live close enough, you MUST come out to Naples (a little part of Long Beach with canals) during Christmas time. About 2 weeks before Christmas, there is an amazing boat parade. All the boats are brightly decorated and you just walk around all the canals, watching them drive by. There's Christmas carollers singing on the streets and everyone who has a house on the water has a house party. You really get a sense of a close-knit Christmas camaraderie. 2nd Street on a warm Saturday afternoon with the gentle ocean breeze blowing on your hair.

People in Long Beach are MUCH more casual and laid back than people in LA and Hollywood. People are not as pretentious and flash their money around (as much). Most people are into the casual and comfortable look with jeans and a nice shirt. Pretty much anything and everything goes in Long Beach. The yuppies hang out in Belmont Shore. The corporate people hang out on Pine Ave. The tourists tend to flock to Shoreline Village (but, so do the locals). The artistic types hang out in parts of downtown Long Beach. The gay crowd hangs out at any one of the many places dotting Broadway.

Roller Blading along the beach.

by Grazina

Along the beach all kinds of activity goes on, and one of the big thing is roller blading, it keeps you fit and takes you all around the beach area and even off the beat path (into the city) with these roller blades on your feet. Protection is very important, helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and of course the roller blades themselves.
