Great Location

My husband and I just got back from California where we spent 4 nights at this hotel. If you're looking for a place to park your body and maybe get some sun, this is the place. The rooms are small, but who cares. We like to get out and see what's going on, not hide in our hotel. The location is perfect. Great restaurants all around, lots of activity on the street and a beautiful courtyard pool. If you drive, there's underground parking and if you want to go anywhere, the hills, beverly hills, the beach, it's just a short drive. Every restaurant we dined at was outstanding. The staff was very courteous and the rooms clean. They had a 25th anniversary party while we were there and informed us they are remodeling at the end of the year. For the price, I would definitely stay there again. But watch out for the showers. The handle is backwards. My husband took cold showers the first 2 nights because he turned the single knob too far until I clued him in. Other than that, we had a great stay and met some nice people.

Originally, I was supposed to go to Miami with my girl friends, but because of Hurricane Frances, we had to cancel that trip and plan a very last minute trip to LA. We were looking for an affordable yet nice hotel on Sunset Blvd, and read reviews for the Best Western here on TripAdvisor. As expected, it was awesome! Right on the strip with all the bars, easy to travel to and from the beaches, shopping, and Hollywood. The room is clean and well kept, and a great value for the price! I'm not a huge fan of LA, but if I ever come back, I plan to stay here again.
Very nice rooms with good location

Hotel is conveniently located along Sunset Blvd., and staff was average. Rooms are large and nicely appointed with wood furniture and your own kitchenette area. We only stayed for one night, but would come back if we were to visit the area again in the future. View was also excellent from the upper floors.

If you want an 'escape' from the hectic world of LA - but still be amongst the action, this hotel is ideal! It's difficult to believe you're on Sunset Strip, when sitting in the beautiful courtyard pool area - and yet, it's all there - just outside the door! We had a very spacious room, with a balcony and a fantastic view over Los Angeles. The staff were courteous and helpful and the room clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Good location, room ok

If you can ever say anywhere is 'central' in LA then this hotel is as close as you can get.
The hotel is within walking distance of some pretty cool bars (Whisky, Viper Room, Comedy Club).
The hotel room we had was fairly average, two double beds, view overlooking the pool. Parking was included which is a bonus.
Breakfast is a self service affair of muffins and croissants on little plastic trays. An ok start for the day - better off waiting just a little while longer and finding somewhere else for a decent start to the day!
Great hotel in the thick of things

The Sunset Plaza was a great central point for everything I wanted to do in LA. We were there Oct. 16 and 17th. The pool is fabulous with a great terrace surrounding it. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Our room overlooked a concrete wall but hey the room was the last thing we wanted to see. Breakfast was just fine for us. Took in two comedy shows Saturday night. The Laugh Factory just up the street and The Comedy Store across the road. It was a gawkers paradise just sitting on the bench in front of the hotel...swimmin' pools...movie stars. Great place, great time at an affordable price.

Great hotel, great location. Room was small (think we got a corner room) overlooking the pool. View of Los Angeles. Great location for visiting Hollywood, Beverly Hills etc. 5 mins from Hollywood walk of Fame. 5 mins from Beverly Hills. Easy to get to. Nice restaurants and shops within walking distance. Pool and terrace kept very clean. Would definately visit again.
Good Choice

Just back from a 3 night business and leisure trip in LA and found this hotel a perfect location. Okay the rooms are basic (unless you go for one of the posh rooms leading out to the wonderfully maintained pool) However when the hotel is in an excellent location you do not need to spend time in your room.
Excellent and lively bars and restaurants are on the doorstep, Hollywood and Universal a 5 minute cab ride away as is fine shopping in Melrose Av. and the Beverly Centre.
Breakfast is dissapointing with little choice except for stodgy cakes in various guises. However this cannot take away from the excellent value the hotel offers especially against other hotels within 100m.

i was looking at staying at maybe the best western sunset plaza hotel is that a safe and good hotel? is it excessable to all the sites or to far out?would you suggest i get a hotel around this area or somewhere else

This is an very good hotel. It was redone into a hotel in the 90's and came out very plush looking. Sunset Blvd location between two hot streets, La Cienega and Cresent Heights. Near the House of Blues, club/diner, and all the restaurants down La Cienega. West Hollywood shopping nearby as well. Good Location.
