I only recommend this if you are playing poker or staying with another guest who is playing.
The player should ask the floorman to contact the front desk to change your rate to poker rate. You'll save a bundle. The floor accepts tips as a "thank you" by the way. Medium stakes and higher players can also request free meals to be delivered to the poker table. There is a price on the menu but you are not charged, so I guess it is there so you will know how to calculate the tip to your server. There is no housekeeping services before 10 A.M. so no stupid maid service knocking on your door when you are trying to sleep. Microwave, fridge, room safe. Good value for the money. On the down side, Commerce is an ugly area and the hotel has an ugly industrial view. When I visited, there were Red-Tailed Hawks nesting on the hotel tower. Worth checking to see if they are there. Otherwise not a very noteworthy view.
Unique Quality: This is the world famous poker room and hotel. My price per person is low because there were two of us staying, and my friend easily earned the poker rate with his play. If you don't play, or there is only one traveler in the room, obviously it will cost more.
You are not supposed to take photos, and it would be considered rude to take a photo of someone you saw playing, even a celebrity. We were told to stop taking pictures of each other in front of the hotel even.
