Parking in Santa Monica

by samtin

Can anyone advise on the parking situation in Santa Monica. We want to visit the 3rd St Promenade, beach and pier etc. Where is it possible/safe to park and what does it cost? Doesn't have to be right close by, it would be fine to park within a half to one mile of these attractions and walk.

Thanks

Sam

There is a parking garage at the end of 3rd St. At least there was last year when I was there. Can't recall the price however. Easy walking distance to the pier as well.

There are several parking garages in Downtown Santa Monica. The first two hours are free. This is usually your best option.
Also, all metered street parking in Santa Monica is free on Sunday and after 6 Monday thru Saturday. Outside of those times, most have 2 hour limits. Just watch the signs around the meters to make sure it's not restricted for that day or time period (they do street sweeping sometimes).
Failing that, there are paid surface lots along the beach, accessed off Pacific Coast Highway.

Just an FYI, parking enforcement is notoriously strict in Santa Monica, so don't try to stretch your time anywhere because you'll likely get a ticket.

During the night in January 1994, I felt a big shake thru my body.

Transportation to Anacapa is...

by Pamela_Peace

Transportation to Anacapa is provided by the National Park concessioner. Landings, except at Frenchys Cove, require written permission from the service. Be prepared upon debarkation to climb 153 steps to the islands plateau where you will find spectacular views and a visitor center. A 1.5 mile self-guided hiking trail explores the beauty of the island. Picnicking is allowed, as is camping (with a permit). Many scuba and skin divers come to the Channel Islands to enjoy the caves, coves and shipwrecks below. It is said that clawless lobsters up to 5 feet long can be found (and harested) in the waters here. Beware! Souvenirs may not be taken!

Beach Bums

When in LA, go have a look at those beaches and you'll find lots of Californian hunks...hehehe...it is a nice view! Some of them spend the whole day at the beach just exercising and working out to develop their muscles
