A good Hotel in Downtown L.A.
by gerhard14 about Figueroa Hotel, Los Angeles
The hotel has a mediterian style and is also much furnished and equipped. The standard rooms are as you can see equipped with 2 single beds. The Hotel is already somewhat older; therefore also the equipment is not the newest. The situation of the hotel is close by the Staples centre in Downtown L.A. this is however not the best area of L.A. numerous meetings with homeless people stand here at the program. The parking lot is on the back of the hotel. The cost per rooms/night amounted to for us € 58,--.
Hotel Figueroa, just remember...

Hotel Figueroa, just remember its in downtown LA, its fairly cheap, very nice and clean and the staff is great, but theres nothing to do or see down there after office-hours-everythings locked up and covered with iron-bars
Places to stay in Los Angeles
by geojean about Hotel Figueroa
As an Angelino my vote would be Downtown. Lots of great hotels, centrally located can easily access Hollywood, Beaches and Disneyland. Can get to some of these places very easily on Metro http://www.metro.net/ downtown walking distance to many restuarnts muesums...recommend the following hotel http://www.figueroahotel.com/
Santa Monica is nice but is not central and it only has the beach...from Downtown you have more options...thats my recommendation. Happy travels : )

We stayed at the figueroa hotel for 2 nights and for me it is a good average hotel, but the smell in the room wasn´t good.
The mexican style is excellent.
I Love This Place!

I love eclectic and this place certainly fits my preference for something outside the norm… I stay at this hotel any time I can swing a weekend event at the Staples Center. If you want mundane – go ahead and go to the Hilton. If you want to feel as though you have been transported from downtown Los Angeles and into another realm – Stay at the Figueroa Hotel!! P.S. Uno has NEVER been rude to me!
Pretty on the outside, rooms disappoint

We came to the Figueroa Hotel for a 3 day weekend. This was our first stay here. The lobby and pool area are beautifully decorated, for a romantic Moroccan feel. We stayed in one of the rooms w a King sized bed. First off, this is an older building, and I love older architecture. The quirkyness of the room's shape and layout didn't bother me. I did feel that there could have been a carpet put down on the concrete floor. The room was *extremely* dim-so dim that it was hard to unpack my bag and get dressed in the morning without having to move to the bathroom area for a better view. The two closets were roomy but I noticed old glue and a musty smell on the floors of each. They don't have cable, which dismayed my boyfriend, and wireless internet was available but for a hefty $8 per day. The amenities were a small bottle of cheap shampoo and a little refrigerator in the powder room. Yes I know this is a budget hotel but for the same price, try the Standard or Farmer's Daughter.
Where is the manager?

This isn't your average motel. It is more a mixture of Moorish-Mexican-Psychedelic style in a building that dates back 75 years. It has a great location if you need to be near the Staples or the Convention Center and you do not walk the neighborhood after dark. Also great if you are a history buff that enjoys living like people did in the early part of the century. No microwave, weak lighting, no coffee maker and no clock in the room. A mattress hard as a river bed. One night a band played for a birthday party outside our window at 80 dbs (about the sound level of a commercial jet) until 11PM, although a written notice announced that they would end at 9:30. When a game was played at the nearby stadium, the lot ($8 night) had no parking places for guests. The manager was never in.
