Suspect Customer Service
by TripAdvisor Member TravellingWomble
Rooms were of a satisfactory standard, as you’d expect from a Holiday Inn Hotel, but the service provided by the front desk staff was variable as the evening / night-shift did not work to the same good standards as the day-shift. I overheard others in the lift making the same conclusions. If you can, save any issues you might need help with until the day-shift is on duty.
Great deal for you money

The hotel is big, clean, and safe. My room was very spacious, there was excellent maid service. Yes, the bell captain was sometimes at loss if I asked him for a specific city location or how to get there. But the people try to stay very nice all the times. Good restaurant with low prices and EXCELLENT free shuttle service. The neighbourhood is mostly safe(especially if you go towards LAX side), so you can jog and walk outside without any fears.:) Overprices business center and yes, a bit long and not nice way to the pool in the basement. Enjoyed the very minute of my stay!
Not bad, not bad at all

You get what you pay for and we only paid $50/night for 3 nights from Priceline. The free shuttle to and from LAX was excellent. The hotel is located right next to a McDonald's and across the (very busy) street from a cafe and a subway. Wouldn't recommend you walk around the neighborhood alone at night, but you'll have that in a major metropolitan area. Parking was convenient as was the restaurant. Kids eat free, so that was nice.
Room was clean and odor-free...completely adequate. No problems whatsoever.
Not the best on the block

Located on the stretch of an expressway heading in & out of LAX, nothing but boring office blocks and a dodgey Mc Donalds and Mobil Mart right outside the lobby entrance who it seemed to attract undesirables - luckily it was only a daystay for us as our flight to NY was at 10:30pm. Next time I have a nightflight from LAX to JFK I'll sit it out at the airport thanks! The desk staff told us that the only way to the local mall (Fox Hill) was by taxi ($15 return) it wasn't until my return flight out of LAX to AK that I found out that the Culver City bus to Fox Mall operated directly across the road from the Holiday Inn!...and that it costs .75c! Anyway we got the "lovely" man on the concierge to call us a cab (we tipped him $5 as he more or less had his hand out as he opened the cab door for us then we had to tip the driver $5!!??) upon our return (few hours later) he came racing out to the cab, but I opened the door myself as I thought we aint paying another $5 for him to open the door! as it was already an expensive trip to the mall! couldn't help but feel that after that he really didn't give a rats backside about us (lucky we didn't have any luggage with us or it would've been thrown around like a rag doll). The only positive about staying at this hotel was the 5mins shuttle to LAX! although credit must go to the room itself, it was clean, the beds were a dream to sleep off some jetlag on and the daughter and husband spent a couple of hours in the lovely pool. We even braved the treacherous walk across the street to Mobil mart and this clothes shop that was having a close-out sale! The free internet as advertised in the rooms and lobby is NOT free as you still need your own laptop to dock for it to be 'free use'. The room service menu was very cheap and looked nice, as did the bar and resturant in the lobby. The most exciting view we had was watching 100's of planes fly so close to our hotel we could almost see the whites of the eyes of the pilots! Would I stay here again? not for any length of stay, as previously stated I'd rather loiter around LAX star spotting for a few hours while waiting for night flight or book into a hotel somewhere along Sepulveda Ave or Culver City District...just so you know!
Not for a Long Term Stay

The hotel was OK. The rooms were clean and spacious, but as previously mentioned, the neighborhood was a little sketchy. We were able to view some run down houses with graffitti from our hotel window. However, we were also able to view the planes coming in.
The night of our stay, we needed to talk to the concierge, but were told he would not return until the morning. In the morning, we went down to the lobby to speak to him, only to find out that the concierge desk should be staffed 24 hours a day. Not sure what happened last night as the reservationist assured us the concierge would return in the morning.
We chose to stay at this hotel so we would be close to LAX and not have to worry about missing our flight. We would stay here again, but only the night before departing LAX.
Perfect for Business in Los Angeles
by A TripAdvisor Member
I stay at this property regularly, and am very happy with it overall. I do alot of leg work for business and this hotel's location is ideal for me, as it is in the center of Los Angeles, just off the 405 freeway.
The rooms are very adequate, service is pretty decent, and this hotel has some very good sized rooms if you ask for them. Each room comes with a coffee maker, iron etc, all the basics that you need.
The elevator goes directly down to the car park and there are plenty of spots always free by the elevators (which no other hotel in this area does, other hotels all make you walk 1/2 a mile to get in and out of the car park), and the car park entrance and exit is just next to the freeway entrance/exit, so you literally can get out of the room and on the freeway in 3 minutes. Other hotels take at least 15 minutes by the time you walk to your car. I'm not lazy or anything, but due to the nature of my work, I am always in & out of my room all day and so its a pain when it takes 30 minutes to get out & back into my room.
Also there is a very convenient McDonalds and Taco bell just outside the front door of the hotel, and a Subway Sandwhiches just across.
There is FREE wireless internet in all the rooms, and a 24 hour self service business center in the lobby.
Basically if you are on business, this hotel is ideal from a practical point of view, its clean, pleasant and efficient and exactly what you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Its not somewhere to book for your honeymoon, but if your looking for a practical experience, then don't look further.
Very Nice

Very short overnight stay between flights. Shuttle bus, friendly staff, free drink voucher, free wireless internet. Nice room, comfortable bed. Was told I got free breakfast as a member of their rewards program but had to check out too early so missed out. A few shops nearby. Will definately come back here if I need to stay at LAX again. Tried to save a few $$$ on the way home and stayed at the Furama, big mistake! Wish I'd payed the extra and come back here.

Our flight was cancelled and Delta put us up at this hotel for the night. They were very accomodating and check-in was quick. Room was okay but looked over the garage roof. Needs to be updated but room and bathroom looked clean. Staff was friendly and meals in the restaurant were average. We weren't expecting much from a Holiday Inn so everything was adequate. Not a place to vacation but fine if you need to be near LAX.

Usually, Holiday Inns are decent and comparable to Best Western and Hampton Inn. Better than Econolodge or Motel 6.

I stay at LAX a couple of times a year and always get my hotels off Priceline. It's blind bidding but I usually pay between $55-$75 per night and have gotten the Hilton, Westin, Ramada and most recently the Crowne Plaza ($60 plus tax) and all have been fine. I have never gotten the Holiday Inn.
