I really don't have a favorite...

  • I really don't have a favorite hotel. there are a lot of nice neighborhoods with nice hotels like any other city. it's just a matter of where you are visiting.

  • Theres hundreds of motels around LA, big names like Best Western, Holiday Inn etc. We stayed at one in Anaheim for about $60 a room, and also one right by Santa Monica pier with sea views for around $90 a room.
Most motels are a cheap option and clean.

We stayed one night in a place...
  • By Grete on August 24, 2002
  • We stayed one night in a place called Banana Hostel or something like that. Supposedly a backpacker place - but it really sucked. We hated it.
I had been backpacking for 5 months now with my two girlfriends through Asia and Australia and stayed in quite a few places - but this one really didn't feel safe or comfortable. Luckily one of my girlfriends had a few years prior to this worked as an au pair / nanny staying with a family in San Fernando Valley. We called them up and they were so kind as to let us stay at their house. Though the three of us slept on an old fold out couch in the kitchen, it was a good experience. This way we were also able to get a look at how American families live their daily lifes.

  • I always recommend Santa Monica. It's a great area (very touristy). The beach is nice and you have Venice beach on one side and Malibu on the other. So it give you ample things to do. You can go bike riding/roller blading along Venice/Santa Monica, you can go hiking in Malibu area, surfing in Malibu area. It's also not too far form Beverly Hills and Hollywood on a good day 20-30 mins. It's a little far from disneyland, but still you're central, so you can easily do Universal and Disney (40-90mins). Santa Monica also has great shopping along the Promenade and great restaurants. It's the perfect place to live and stay!

  • Holiday Inn Suites in Burbank on San Fernando Blvd.
A suite was $155.00 per nite.

Was very clean and the views from the suite were great. Good service as well.

  • This si a hostel at about 20 minutes from the airport where I stayed for one night in a single room cause I needed the rest between two 10 hour flights...
It has good rooms with all the necessary and more to your convenience. The hostel offers some free drinks at night, organizes parties and has a swimming pool... during the day, their bus drive you to the main beaches for free and a airport transfer is free... tips are enough.
