Mondrian: Mondrian on Sunset Strip
Great location . Very L.A.!!!!!!Feel alittle out of place if you don't look like a movie star (lol) . More beautiful people coming in and out of the hotel . Great people watching . We had a connection through work so we had a great price . I don't know if i would pay top dollor to stay there . Rooms can be noisy . We were on the 3rd floor facing Sunset Strip . Had trouble sleeping the first night .Vey modern room . If your a guest you can get into the sky bar which is very hip . Not a family hotel but if you have extra money and you want to feel like your one of the beautiful people . It lots of fun !!!!!!!!!

Furama Hotel: close and reasonable to sites and airport
-sevice is friendly
-nice enough pool
-internet service
-a simple continental breakfast is included
-there is a bar, qutie a nice and big bar at that in the hotel but seperate enough so you will not hear it at night
-rooms are basic but clean
-free shuttle bus to and from the airport
- 5 mins from LAX
- reasonable, room rates around $40
- if u are a backpacker ask the airlines in LAX for hotel discount vouchers
Unique Quality: i only actually stayed here once but i lived beside it for a year, i used to use their shuttle bus every day to get me to and from work, the staff are friendly, it is very close to the airport and im my eyes quite a central hotel. It is quite basic but if it is only a bed u are after then its perfect, after all your not in LA to stay indoors. The hotel runs a free shutle bus to venice beach, santa monica daily, venice beach is only around 15 mins away from the hotel while santa monica about 20. On the other side manhattan beach is around 20mins away, this is were there is alot of nightlife, great bars and a relaxing environment.
Just opposite furama is an italian restaurant, kfc for those who want to budget, there is a pizza place 5 mins walk away as well as a couple of bars, a nice park across the way and above all it is very safe and clean

Anaheim Park Hotel: Tourist Class Hotel
Our first hotel in USA. Stayed there for 3 nights. Its not in the city, somewhere in this county called Fullerton, I think. Just a 3 stars tourist class hotel with the basic necessities. Room size is ok for 2 persons. Clean & comfortable. But horrible breakfast! Not much of choices. Everyday is the same. I can still remember what I ate for that 3 days. Eggs, bacons, toasts, meat loafs and OJs.
Picture taken off from their website.
Unique Quality: Its a 4-storey hotel so there's not much of a view. In fact, its near to the freeway, so it can get abit noisy if you are a light sleeper. Have a pool though. Generally the hotel is clean, so I guess this is what matters most yeah. =)

Carmel Hotel: Great Location
The Carmel Hotel is on the corner of Broadway and 2nd Street in Santa Monica. It's one block away from Ocean Av., one block from the 3rd St. Promenade and one block from the Northstar Mall. Cant beat the location really.
As for the hotel itself, it's just ok. It is clean, the rooms are about average, not that big but ok. If you want a good location without paying a fortune I definitely recommend it.
I payed 120 for a double with two queen beds.

The Adventurer: Convenience for "Adventurers"-Inglewood/LAX area
The Adventurer All-Suites is located in the LAX/Inglewood area. This is a hostel-hotel. Its exterior resembles a common small hotel but is considered a hostel which caters especially to out of area folks. I happen to stay here because my boyfriend at the time was visiting.
I noticed that the staff were of Australian and
UK decent, as well as many guests. While walking around the hotel I felt like I was in London or Sydney!
Warning ! Don't stay here if you hate a lot of commotion. People party hard at this hotel with beers and blasting music on the grounds every night.
Unique Quality: There was a great pool, convenient on-site dining cafe, and many, many amenities. Just about everything was available here for guests- band-aids, nail filers, facial cream, snacks, stationery, etc...
Also, free shuttle rides were offered to Venice Beach and to the airport. What a convenience!

Adventure All Suites: Airport Hotel
Our stay at the Adventure all suites hotel was good. We had a 2 suite room which was suitable for our trip. There is also a backpackers part in which you share rooms, I heart from other people that this part is not quite so nice. There are a lot of young people and there is always free cake and champagne.
The airplanes are flying quite close to the hotel so bring your earplugs.
There is a free shuttle to/from the airport and venice beach.
Unique Quality: There is a very warm pool which is nice in the evening, the bar is also ok. Breakfast is served in the restaurant. There is a reception which is open 24 hours, you can also buy telephone cards and use the internet.
There is also a game room with arcades.
The owner has a stretched limo in which he took us to Venice Beach.

Grafton on Sunset: Swish lodgings in West Hollywood
This place is expensive but I have an emotional attachment to it. Perhaps it's from all those wild nights at the Park Sunset, which it use to be. The rooms have CD players and now DVD. It's a great location - you can walk to the Whiskey, Roxy and Rainbow.
Unique Quality: Nice pool, good resturant and a room service menu item called "the Rock Star". Find out for yourself.

Jolly Roger Hotel: Is it in its name? No, it is not in its namen
I found this an affordable, safe and very clean hotel in beautiful Marina del Rey (near Venice Beach). It was recommended by a friend an I'm amazed it is not in this list. I had a very large room with everything with it, a bath, a large bed, tv, fridge, microwave and airconditioning. The staff was very friendly and the price included a breakfast in its lovely patio. For under $95! And, ok, the name is strange, but then, it dates from the sixties, i've been told, and they wanted a happy, jolly name. (by the way, two of my nieces are called 'Happy' and 'Jolly', so I do have a bias). Check in!
Unique Quality: Vey nice patio. Spacious room. Very clean. Friendly staff.
With easy access from and to Los Angeles Airport (LAX) and world class beache within walking distance.
