I will admit that I am a magnet for bad service. I seem to have a kind of dumb luck with it. So imagine that it really isn't typical when I tell you that the hotel locking me out at three am and not letting me in until seven that morning is sort of a fluke. At least my bags were secure.
When I got there, I was given a lovely view of a roof, a sign, a palm tree, and the highway. It was right over the bar and lobby, so naturally my eastern time zone sleeping patterns were disrupted a little. Plus, there was a remodeling project going on which made the shower have interesting noises, odd water pressure and even stranger temperature changes.
The room itself is everything I needed, minus my again fluke shower problems which I am sure have been resolved now. It was clean, it was roomy, had a good bed, great air conditioner, and was central to everyplace I wanted to be. Montebello is a little South East of Downtown LA, and was convenient to avoiding traffic (as much as possible) to anyplace south of LA where I wanted to go.
The Hotel does United Sky Miles, but you have to be a member of the Best Western Club. Join when you make reservations, or at the front desk. Better to join over the phone though. There is a language barrier with some of the workers and the English language.
Unique Quality: Outdoor pool, exercise room, food, hair dryers, security.
Directions: I-5 to Slausen Ave. Go towards the Burger King on Telegraph Rd.
