LA to Newport Beach
Hi all,
I will be in LA in April/May and am interested in attending the Newport Beach Film Festival.
Does anyone know the best way of transport between these two places? I don't have a car, so I'm stuck to public transport.

Metrolink Rail + OCTA bus is the only way, and it still sucks.
From Union Station in LA, take the Orange County Line to the Anaheim Station and transfer to the OCTA #57 bus southbound to Newport Beach. That will get you to Fashion Island. The only other places in Newport Beach you can get to by bus are along the PCH via OCTA #1, which you can transfer to at Fashion Island.
This will take at least two hours to do with wait times.

Universal Studio's are a must...
Universal Studio's are a must for the tourist but we did find that getting around LA a lot more difficult than most cities especially if like me, I was too afraid to drive with the other 17 million cars. So in this city we stuck to tours that every body else does
Go to L.A. in the Winter
Many times throughout the year, the smog pollutes beautiful scenes here but I tell you, there is natural beauty in and around Los Angeles and this is most highlighted in the fall and winter. During this time, L.A. can be a picturesque valley with the sun, green hills and snow-capped mountains from afar- all in a single snapshot. This picture doesn't do the description justice!

Pink Moment Jeep Tours will plan anything you want and do it right. They picked us up at our hotel, provided a wonderful guide who took pictures of the group, and furnished an excellant picnic lunch. Can't Take Pictures of Bank Buildings
A security guard stopped me on Grand Street when I was trying to take pictures of one of the buildings. Apparently the security guards have been told to stop people from taking pictures of the buildings (I assume it’s just the bank buildings?) because of security.
