Commute from e.g. Lexington Resevoir area to Milpitas

by mpgrogan

Does anyone have a sense for the commute time peak/off-peak fron the los gatos mountains e.g. Lexington resevoir area to Milpitas. I hear that it can be terrible, is that true?

Really would appreciate any local insights

Thank You,

What are peak hours normally on weekdays?

Peak times are generally from 6-10am in the mornings and 4-7pm in the evenings. During bad weather, give yourself extra time to account for slower traffic and possible accidents. Also, during the summer, traffic going into San Jose can also bog down with all of the beach-goers returning from Santa Cruz in the early evening.

Travel Tips for Los Gatos

Hiking Close to Town But Not Too Close

by jumpingwithnorman

St Joseph's Hill is a walking loop that winds up and down within easy reach of the town of Los Gatos. You can choose to park at the Alma Bridge Road and take a vertical walk up the slopes to the very top or park somewhere off Main Street/N Santa Cruz Avenue and meander over to the trail which starts over between the library and the post office. It's a great walk that's do-able and sweat-inducing. Bikes do use the trail too so watch out for them as you go up the steep roads. Dogs also share your path along with their owners who are pretty conscientious about leaving "no trace" behind.

Land of the rich, home of spoiled babes.

Los Gatos doesn't hold too much interest for me. In the area of San Jose and the South Bay, it is one of the richest areas around with a Ferrari, Bentley, and Maserati dealership in the town for all the millionaires to spend their money on. If you happen to be passing through, there are some things to pass your time with, but not much use in making an effort to get here if you are staying somewhere else.

Not much but nice

"Can be missed but still charming"

Located somewhere in Santa Clara county, not a must to see but we spent one pleasant afternoon here. Typical Californian town with a couple of interesting streets full of shops and restaurants, not much more that I remembered...
