Lovely folks

We planned our trip at the last minute and took the chance in finding hotels. We found this one easily enough and the folks were so friendly and polite. Our little Nick at the time loved exploring the room and it was very clean. That was always a concern, but I didn't have to worry too much about this place. It filled all our basic needs and we enjoyed our stay here very much.

Truly Mariposa's Best Value!

We have stayed here a number of times. It is an older set up - but that's typical of the town. The hotel is clean and well kept, the staff is friendly and courteous and the money spent is the best deal in town.

Unique Quality: The garden like atmosphere is very pleasant and adds to the charm of the town. The parking is enclosed so that your family and vehicle safety is not something you will have to concern yourself with. Across the street is a coffee, smoothie type shop - locally owned.

More about Mariposa Lodge Motel

Great little place

by TripAdvisor Member Ozstitcher

Stayed here for 1 night Oct 21. The room was basic but clean with 2 queen beds. I loved the fact you could park right outside your door. The pool isn't heated but that didn't stop my daughter from jumping on in while I froze watching her! You can't go past this place for the price ($69!)..why drive all the way to Merced?

It's an hour from Yosemite

by A TripAdvisor Member

Good location if you don't mind driving an hour to the Yosemite. The motel grounds are clean as well as the rooms. Cute little town. It'll be okay for one night, but if you're planning to head back to Yosemite more than one day, you may want to allow extra travel time from the Motel to Yosemite. Especially if you plan to do a full day of hiking.

Really Nice

by A TripAdvisor Member

We made our reservations here for 2 nights stay based on other reviews on Trip Advisor. We were NOT disapointed. It is not a new motel, but very clean and large room. The staff was very nice and helpful. We would definately recommend this motel. We were told that for a good meal, go to the Red Fox. Service was very poor. We went and were seated right away, but then ignored for over 10 minutes. It was not crowded, only about 5 other tables seated. We got up and left and ate across side street at the Happy Burger Diner, and had GREAT hamburger meals.

not as good as it looks

Clean, quiet and comforatable, but annoying wireless internet and telephone service. You have to pay extra for the internet service, and it wasn't working when I was there. It is also easy to rack up long distance phone charges without knowing it just dialing 7 digit numbers.

Excellent value!

We stayed there on May 23rd (a Monday) and the first room that we were appointed to was a bit dark so we asked to be changed to one of the rooms that had balconies and patio doors. We were very pleased with the room we got on the second floor. It was very large and the dining area was next to the patio door which was nice to eat in.

This is an old motel that has been very well kept over the years. The owner has a lot of taste with flowers and the grounds are covered with beautiful shrubs and flowers.

The pool is tiny and the spa is average size (a bit to close to the noise of the road) and there is no breakfast included but at the price we paid ($65) we think it was great!

PS they also suggested to us the Red Fox Restaurant for dining but we thought it was expensive so we picked up a pizza at the Pizza Factory and it was delicious!

25 years of good service

My husband and I stayed at the Mariposa Lodge 25 years ago and loved the lodge. The bed was the best we had slept on and we found out the name of the bed and bought one for ourselves when we got home. We have continued to go there whenever we go to Yosemite (the last time was June 23rd and 24th of 2005) and the management makes us feel at home and we still love the bed. We are very comfortable and happy to be there.

Also, the prices are extremely reasonable and the route into Yosemite is the best following along the Merced River all the way!!

Great place to Stay

We decided after reading the positve reviews about this Best Value Mariposa Lodge and the mixed reviews all the others in the similar price range and vicinity received, to stay here for the 4 days we were visiting Yosemite. Nancy and Gia and the other front desk staff were wonderful and so friendly and helpful just as many others had commented. We had asked for an upstairs quiet room since we'd be gone all day and would only be there at night to sleep and Room 141 was perfect. It was away from their tiny pool and hot tub and away from the parking lot noise (but there really wasn't any noise to speak of) The room was very large for a single king. It was nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. The hotel rooms had been remodeled 2 years ago according to Nancy. The bathroom had new fixtures and was tiled. Lots of light. Good TV reception and a small refrigerator worked well for us. The hotel was surrounded by heat- tolerant rock gardens and everything was in bloom and just overflowing onto the walkways and looked so nice. They had petunias in window boxes and barrels. Dave the gardener did a wonderful job with the mix of plants, trees and shrubs. While you may be expecting acres of gardens by the Lodge's own description, I felt the gardens that were there, were just lovely even if they were only in the areas in front of the rooms in like a 6-10' width garden. For the price you can't beat this BV Mariposa Lodge if coming to stay in the area for Yosemite or for other vacation plans. We'd definitely stay there again.

Rude Awakenings ....

by TripAdvisor Member midnightbay

I was all set to give this hotel four stars. It's very presentable, most of the staff seemed friendly and it has a quant, cosy feel to it. Most of all, I loved its location. About an hour's drive from Yosemite, Mariposa has a nice selection of restaurants and shops.

The reason it loses two stars is that on the morning of our departure, we got a knock on the door (half an hour before check-out) telling us that it was time to get up. We were already up and packing, but to be rushed like that was absolutely disgraceful. I couldn't believe my ears. It's just a good job that it wasn't me who answered the door!
