HOT HOT HOT Sizzling summers!
There is a baking, scorching, dry heat here in the valley in the summer. Bring shorts, tank tops, shading hats, and SPF 99 sunblock.
If you venture into the Sierras, remember that it is considerably cooler at 7000+ feet and in the shade. Always bring warm clothing, even in the summer. You never know when you might get stranded and need it. There are some rattlesnakes out here. My wife accidentally stepped on one, but it didn't get vengeful and strike back. If you're the paranoid type, bring an anti-venom kit when you go hiking. If you like to shoot lush greenery, do it early spring when the foilage is alive from the winter rains. It all dries out and dies during the summer, turning everything to golden brown. Plenty of camping up in the Sierra Mts east of here or Redwood forests north and west of here.
