The Haunted House: I wouldn't...
The Haunted House: I wouldn't recommend staying at this old house on Lemona Avenue in Mission Hills. As a boy I used to marvel at the sight of this house. Afterall it was different from just about every other house in the neighborhood. I didn't realize at the time that our homes were all built in the 1950's as the Valley expanded but this home had already been there before the neighborhoods were built up around it. I called it the 'Haunted House' and the little old woman and her 3 legged dog confirmed to me that this house must be haunted.
If you really want to stay in Mission Hills (most people don't) there is a Best Western Hotel on Sepulveda Blvd. & Chatsworth located near the freeways.
Though there are equally beautiful and far more impressive homes in the old south of the United States and many other areas throughout the country we people here in Southern California do have a few homes that lend to the history of the area. Some of these homes are from the Spanish era.
