I did not sleep here, but was in the hotel for a day for a wedding. The hotel dates back to 1851, during the height of the gold rush in CA. As one of the brouchurs state "once know as one of the bowiest bars in the Mother Lode..." this is a wonderfully historic site to stay.
Unique Quality: the 13 rooms that are rented to the public are filled with antiques. You are swept back in time to the days when CA was first established as a major force in the US ecconomy.
Just the location of the town allows many options for the explorer. Jackson, Murphys, Yosemite, Tahoe are all within easy reach when there is no snow on the ground.
Directions: Watch for Main Street off of Hyw 49 or 26. Take a right and you can't miss it.
