Coming for a Visit

by BrattyChix

Hello :) I'm flying from Austin, Tx to LA and staying in Monrovia for the sole purpose of seeing a really cool guitarist at The Brass Elephant play...I need some suggestions as where to stay. Right now I have reservations at the Holiday Inn...Where to eat, where not to eat...what else to see and do in this general area, etc...any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Hi.

You can get some really great Chinese food in the area. With Temple City, Alhambra, Arcadia, Monterey Park and San Gabriel. There's also plenty of good Korean BBQ (as well as Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese) in Rowland Heights. There's plenty to do in this area.

If you're feeling a bit hot, Raging Waters is close by in San Dimas. Tons of slides. Located in Frank G. Bonelli Regional County Park. There's a nice asphalt walk way going around a lake there. You can go running on it. And if you prefer to run on a dirty trail, there's that around the parameter and center of the park.

If the outdoors is more your thing, you can go hiking in Angeles National Forest. There's nice waterfall you can visit near by. Just drive north Santa Anita. Go early as parking can quickly be full. Also near by is Pasadena. Old Town is great. A lot of restuarants and shops. You can also check out the Paseo Colorado. Also a lot of shops and restuarants. Both are on Colorado Blvd.

And as a factoid, Baldwin Park (nearby) is the birth place of In-N-Out Burgers. Try out some of their burgers.

Hsi Lai Temple, the largest Buddist temple in the US, is located in Hacienda Heights. Check it. Interesting if you never seen any thing like it.

Check out Huntington Library in San Marino (very close by). Really nice.

You can visit Norton Simon Museum is Pasadena if art museums are your thing.

I think the Downtown area in Covina is nice too. You can kick it there and relax.

The Place
