The hotel features 196 rooms with miles of beach access. There is bar and large lobby sitting area, restaurant upstairs and ballroom plus a coffee, espresso bar for early risers. The staff was friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Located at the north end of the Monterey urban complex it sits on the edge of the former Fort Ord military base, now closed. But this location gives the hotel sort of an isolated feeling as you can look to the north and see nothing but ocean dunes and beach.
The banquet facilities accomodated our group very nicely and the dogs were made to feel welcome. I'm sure that the casual traveler upon checking in would have been a bit stunned to see three hundred Beardies bouncing around on the beach. Of course we dog owners made sure to keep the area clean and quiet for others.
