We (me, wife and 10 year old daughter) just returned from Monterey. We found this property to be very well run. When we checked in, the two guys at the front desk were very friendly, smiling and welcomed us twice!
The double queen room was large with a small under counter fridge that was useful for keeping some items in. Bathroom clean and well lit. As mentioned in some other reviews, I did notice some tv noise and talking from a room next door but in our case, it all quieted down by 10.
The cont. breakfast was good, with bagels, cold cereal, sweets and juice available.
This is not walking distance to the Aquarium but is about a five minute drive. It is possible to walk to the Wharf and some local eateries but it will take about 10-15 minutes.
There is a Whole Foods market up the street in a large outdoor mall which was great for us to buy a few things.
We spent two nights here and have no problems recommendating this BW. It's a great value.

Went to rent a room there saturday April 2nd the clerk says it is $169
with an arroganr attitude.Hey come on it's only a best western...got a
pleasant room at the sand dollar inn next door at 99.00

The hotel is not particularly pretty - there's another Best Western right on the water in Monterey - could be a better choice.
The room was decent sized and clean, with a small table and chairs in addition to the bed. My main complaint is that the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows lumpy - not a great night's sleep.
They had a free but pretty dismal looking breakfast.
Basic and economical, but don't expect anything special.

We stayed there for 3 nights. We asked for an upper floor that was perfect. The room was very clean, new carpet, new light fixtures, bathroom updated. We were very happy with the location and the ease of in and out. Yes it is a smaller hotel with a small pool but who has time to sit around the room with everything else going on. We brought our tickets for the aquarium right there. The breakfast was just danish, muffins, bagels and cold cereal. Wasn't to crazy about the small dixie cups the OJ was in but you can ask for two. There is a Denny's right next door and dozens of other places to dine just around the corner. There is also a grocery store up a block. We were very happy for the price/location and would sure stay again!

3 famlies stayed at this hotel in 3 different rooms. They were very accomadating putting us all together,letting some of us upgrade to bigger rooms. Very family freindly. Clean spacious rooms!! The pool was small but the kids didn't mind. Continetal breakfast was not very nice. But, that would not stop us from staying there again!!

We stayed two nights on weekend (Fri & Sat in summer...). Spacious room, good service, great house-keeping job, convenient location -walking distance to downtown, safeway, and aquarium. You can buy two days ticket there to avoid making a long line at aquarium. Beds are a bit soft (if you have lower back problem, I wouldn't recommend), but we were truelly happy for our decision! If you are tea lover, you may want to bring your own tea and ask hot water at breakfast counter.

Really nice hotel with extemely large rooms (the biggest we had on our whole trip). The beds were very comfortable and the hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean. There was a lovely breakfast in the morning and our kids enjoyed the pool in the afternoon. The hotel is well located but we did take our car to the aquarium and the wharf area.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Monterey.

We stayed for two nights with another family and found the motel a lovely clean relaxing and inviting place to stay. The rooms were large and very comfortable with plenty of facilities especially the fridge which was very handy. The staff were helpful and friendly and the car park was very secure. The free continental breakfast was excellent with more than enough for everyone. The location was ideal for exploring Monterey and the nearby Carmel. The only downside I could find was the lack of air-conditioning although ceiling fans were in every room. I would definately stay or recommend anyone wanting a pleasant comfortable base to stay at this extremely clean and welcoming motel.

Big room, good value, nice town.
5 minute walk to Monterey town, free parking, breakfast quite acceptable. Only stayed for one night but room was large and comfortable with good facilities. Would stay again.
