If you stay at the Inn at Morro Bay, use of the bicycles is part of the package. There are many bicyclists taking in the sights of the area and the embarcadero is only a mile away. Bicycle rentals are also available downtown Morro Bay.

As an animal lover, I prefer animals to live in their own habitats.

However if animals have been sick or injured then it is not always possible as they may need to be looked after.

We visited the aquarium in Morro Bay and I was really disappointed to see the very confined space these seals are living in.

Kayaking on Morro Bay

Kayak Rentals are located along the south end of the Embarcadero, close to where the private boats are moored. The south bay, near to where the estuary is located, is quite calm and easy to kayak even on a blustery day. Morro Bay harbor is well protected by the rock, the sandbar, and breakwater. Most kayaks head south hoping to see the wildlife along the estuary. Rentals for small sailboats are also available here.

Morro Bay perfect for a long weekend

"Great food, uncrowded beaches"

Do you like fish and chips? You'll love it here then! I brought my dog for a long weekend. We walked a lot. The town is very cute and low key. It's fun to shop and eat along the Embarcadero. Lots of the stores even let you bring in your dog. They are very pet-friendly there.

"Beaches, wine, fish, shopping, what's not to love?"

It's so relaxing and everything is very close. I had to drive a little ways North to the part of the beach where they allow dogs. On my way home I discovered Cayucos, about a 20 minute drive North. What a cute town! Next time I'm staying THERE!

"Low key town"

There's even a movie theater in town. Indiana Jones had just opened over Memorial Day weekend. I didn't go see it but people were lining up before the show.

Morro Bay is a wonderful starting point for visiting several attractions in San Luis Obispo County. The famous Hearst Castle is just a short drive north of Morro Bay and in between are the charming villages of Harmony and Cambria.

It was one of our stopping points on our road trip.
