More about AVIA Napa

Elegant and beautiful boutique hotel with superb service

by TripAdvisor Member CandiBKane

Cant say enough how wonderful our stay was at Avia Napa. The service was phenomenal. The intimacy of this hotel allowed you to really experience the exceptional service. The complimentary wine tasting was awesome and allowed us to meet Doug. What a great ambassador for this hotel. He was friendly and accommodating and encouraged us to have dinner right there in the hotel. The food was fabulous! We were not disappointed at all.
The rooms were more than comfortable. Very funky and spacious. The terrace on the third floor was our second home. The concierge was helpful with dinner reservations but gave us some wrong info on the hours of the vineyards so double check. Although most close at 5pm, there are several that stay open to 6pm. The concierge recommended Angele for dinner. What a treat! Awesome food!
All in all a great holiday!

modern and whimsical

by TripAdvisor Member jshien

on our recent trip to wine country i had a hard time finding a hotel or bb in our price range. they were either larger resort style hotels or small outdated bed and breakfasts. since most of our day was spent at the wineries we didnt care to spend a fortune on a hotel with lots of amenities that we wouldnt use. but it was also important to come home at the end of the day to something nice and updated. avia napa really fit the bill. its the perfect hotel! its more like a boutique hotel but still with very nice outside areas. i enjoyed the decor and the lobby is very whimsical with a beautiful backdrop at the front desk. the rooms are new modern and quite spacious. we stayed in a suite that had a nice layout. flatscreen tv that swiveled 180 degrees between the sleeping and living area. the bathrooms were nice but the sinks seemed kind of low. might be a problem for ppl taller. also there was one sink only. dont usually have a problem with one sink but the setup was kind of odd, long countertop that allows for double vanity but only one put in and off to one side. just looked like they planned on putting two in but ran out of money and only put one in. no biggie just looks kinda off.
the hotel is within walkind distance to everything in downtown it seemed. we walked to la toque and it was fine.
between 5-6 they had complimentary tastings paired with a small appetizer. very nice wish we had stayed longer to try some of their other apps from the menu. the breakfast buffett was pretty good, nothing special. they had an omelette station, pastries, fruits some cold cuts. for the size of the hotel the options were perfectly fine.
i also want to point out the internet stations were great! they have 3 stations set up for hotel guests with printer. easy to use.
we enjoyed this hotel and would def stay again!

Solid new hotel in Napa

by TripAdvisor Member minnytravelers

The Avia was around $100 below any other hotel of similar quality in the area and we had never stayed in downtown Napa before. Room was very nice and spacious with the feel of a W to it. We were in the Lux Tub Suite; only comlaint with the room is the loudness of the A/C.

Hotel was clearly still working out the bugs and seemed a little understaffed, but we were staying there on a Sunday and Monday evening.

Tasting Menu from 5-6 was a great deal and fun way to start the evening. Food was excellant though keep in mind the menu is strictly appetizers and small plates.

Would recommend the hotel and plan to stay there on next visit to Napa.

Elegant, contemporary, centrally located, great value

by TripAdvisor Member fivestarsd

We booked this for labor day weekend and were looking for a place reasonably priced. We were delighted to discover this trendy, spacious, contemporary hotel in the middle of Napa. We received a room upgrade to a lux room with a seating area for $20/day.

Breakfast was marginal and not recommended. The fitness center is fully equipped. There is a parking garage behind the hotel where you can park free on the 3rd floor, though the garage elevator was out of service. Valet parking is $15/day. Wifi is free and worked well.

We would happily stay here again.

new and modern hotel, great service, will definitely go back!

by TripAdvisor Member AryanaToronto

newer hotel with the new smell.
Everything is well put together, we had a nice room, comfy, very clean and european modern. nice shower.
Juliette (concierge) is great in helping book you in wineries and restaurants and suggestions on places and things in the area.
We will go back for sure.
Close to everything if you have a car.

Beautiful Hotel, Ugly Service.

by TripAdvisor Member Escapian

I'll start by saying that AVIA is absolutely beautiful. There is not one decoration detail that was overlooked in this hotel. From the lobby, to the rooms to the gorgeous outdoor terrace - the AVIA designers did it right! Sadly, the service is not quite as nice.

There were many, many service details that were just wrong. It was as if the AVIA workers had no training whatsoever in general hospitality. For the sake of keeping this review short, I'll just talk about the worse part - our breakfast service at the weekend buffet. When we arrived we were promptly seated and told our water was coming right behind us. We sat for about 15 minutes, no water or server ever came. So we just went to the buffet to get our meals, we ate our entire meal with no water and no coffee. During our meal we asked 4 times for water and coffee. The first three times, we were told that it was on its way. The 4th time, the hostess told us "you can see we are busy." Um, sorry - this is a BUFFET service where you don't actually wait on people and there are 3 waiters running around and ~12 people eating in the restaurant - not my idea of 'busy.' In any case, I actually got up and walked to the service station to pour us some water. The buffet chef, who may have been the only one really working, brought our coffee and commiserated with us on the hostess' rude behavior and the lack of any beverage for our meal.

The breakfast buffet was the 5th service item gone wrong at AVIA, which I might mention is NOT a cheap hotel. I would expect mediocre service at a Motel 6, but not a hotel that markets and prices itself as a luxury hotel. I understand that AVIA is a new hotel, and they have a LONG way to go in the service department. I really hope they get it together! It is a beautiful hotel, but I would never stay there again based on the horrible customer service we received.

Just fine

Went there to discover Napa Valley and hence the famous US wine region. Brand-new hotel with stylish rooms (which is very uncommon for any US hotel we have been), located in the middle of Napa with good access to a number of restaurants etc. Breakfast could be improved by more choices but still OK. Very nice service at the front desk who got us into Beringer / Opus One very easy.

Gorgeous hotel in downtown Napa

by TripAdvisor Member tipperella

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend after a recommendation from someone who stayed shortly after it opened. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel when we arrived. It was beautiful and very well appointed. We got upgraded to a luxury suite with a two sided fireplace and huge tub in the room. We LOVED the design of the room and found it to be so comfortable we wished we had more time to spend just relaxing there than out both days we were there. There is a nice deck area with swings and a fire pit that was very comfortable to hang out. Our only complaint was that they don't actively have service to serve drinks and food out there even though there are many tables and a bar. We had to call via our cell phone to the front desk to get service one night while sitting by the fire pit. The other disadvantage is that it takes awhile to get out to the vineyards from downtown Napa. I loved the hotel, but wish it were more in the center of things. Finally, the breakfast was only so so and we ventured out the second morning instead of paying for an overpriced mediocre breakfast. Even with these disadvantages, the hotel was very romantic and comfortable and we'd definitely consider staying there next time we're heading to the area.

Excellent Stay,

A new hotel downtown Napa. Nicely styled, very comfortable room with good size bathroom. The extremely attentive and pleasant staff were eager to help make this a great stay. The rate was in line with level of comfort and service.

Great Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member samthetraveler

We stayed here during the week through an Expedia reservation. While the hotel is in downtown Napa, which frankly is not the best place to stay during a trip to the wine country, it is a lovely place. It is a stylish hotel akin to those in downtown NYC - hip vibe, low lightng, modern decor. Everything is new and shiny and clean. Marble baths, top grade bathroom products, etc. Cool deck with firepit, rocking chairs, bench swings. But it is the service that impressed us. Staff jumped to assist when we drove up, and then walked in. Complimentary drinks are available - all day - in the lobby to welcome you. We were given an ordinary room, which, while stylish and comfortable, was a bit cramped, and after a long week, we just wanted to relax and stretch out. We went down and asked if they had anything else, and lo and behold, they gave us an upgrade to a an available suite. In fact they gave us a choice of two available suites. The staff couldnt not have been anything more than generous and helpful.

All in all, its a hip, stylish, beautiful place, with great service. Just know that its in downtown Napa, which may not be the best location for a wine country trip - particularly if you want to feel the call of nature or you want to be right in the thick of the Napa/Sonoma experience.
