More about Cedar Gables Inn

Hospitality and Romance

by TripAdvisor Member Adventure4Me

From our first sight of this incredible home, to the greeting at the door, to the warm baked cookies awaiting us, we knew we made a great decision to stay here. Kind and generous hospitality from the owners, with a wine-tasting happy hour in the fascinating den surrounded by new friends and guitar melodies in the background. Rooms were romantic, well decorated, charming, and the jacuzzi bath was fabulous. Breakfast by the chef owner was one of the best we've ever had. Great location, within walking distance to Napa's finest restaurants. We didn't want to leave! What a great B&B- a very high standard has been set!

A great find, even if it's not in the center of it all

by TripAdvisor Member StuckinNY

We stayed at the Cedar Gables Inn during harvest season, which is a beauiful time to visit Napa. Everyone said it was the most crowded time of year, but we never saw traffic or felt like sardines! I found the B&B on trip advisor. We were travelling with friends and the rooms worked with our budget. The only warning I would have is that Cedar Gables is in Napa proper, while I would say staying in Yountville or Oakville is prob more convenient to more of the wineries and restaurants in the county. We had a bit of a drive to get just about anywhere. That being said, it was WORTH IT. We felt at home right away, Ken and Susie have put their hearts and souls into this inn. Rooms were clean and comfy. The nightly Tavern time really adds a lot to your trip! And breakfast was to die for. No matter how much we gorged ourselves the night before, we were always ready to eat Susie's meals bright and early! They were very helpful in arranging our schedule and helping us decide what to do during our stay. The B&B met if not exceeded all of our expectations, as well as our friends'. Thanks to the Popes for being so very hospitable.

Amazing, a rare gem

Cedar Gables Inn was great. I had such a nice stay and really was amazed by the service. Susie owner/chef and her husband were so hospitable. They really made our stay. Thanks agin and do not miss out on this place. The setting and Inn itself were awesome.

I loved this place!

This is the perfect B&B! My bf and I were just passing through and looking for a last-minute place to stay, but thanks to our choice in accomodations, it turned into a thoroughly romantic weekend. We're still talking about it, and planning to go back!

This has none of that ueber-flowery, lacey-country-kitchen feel that B&Bs can be prone to. It's a sumptuous, yet light-hearted Elizabethan feel that's at once lavish and comfy. Breakfast was droolingly good ("eggs shakespeare with macbeth marinara" -- hahah!). Also, the hosts were wonderful: Susie made us dinner reservations at a lovely restaurant, and Ken gave detailed, personalized recommendations for wineries to visit in the area. My only regret was not to be able to stay longer and explore the secret passageways (really!) in the house and all the cozy nooks and cranies. Thanks for everything, guys!!

Great people, terrific choice

Ken and Suzie are simply wonderful hosts; we felt welcomed from the moment we rang the bell, and can not say enough great things about the place. Strongly recommend to anyone who is either returning to Napa Valley, or simply exploring the wine country for the first time. Ken's advice was most helpful. The place is all a great B&B should be: charming, very comfortable, efficiently run, and really inviting. Wish we could have stayed a week!

Highly recommend this one!!

We selected this B & B over the internet not knowing it beforehand. It is well located. From the inn guests are able to walk to downtown Napa to a number of great restaurants (this is particularly useful if you plan to sample the valley wines and don't want to worry about driving after dinner). It is also near Copia and the premium discount outlets. Ken and Suzie could not have done more to be welcoming and hospitable - they help you think through your stay with VERY useful suggestions! The rooms are well appointed with all of your needs in mind (including excellent port and glasses). And last but not least, Suzie's breakfasts are UNBELIEVABLE!!! They were always beautifully served and always amazingly wonderful! This is not a hotel for children or adolescents, but is a lovely place to feel like you have really gotten away!

Excellent place!!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Cedar Gables Inn in Napa Valley May 19 and 20th. It is 3 blocks from downtown Napa Valley, so it was nice being able to walk into town for dinner after a day of wine tasting. Ken and Suzie, the owners, will help you choose places to eat and even make reservations for you in advance. Their breakfasts are very yummy, but our favorite part was the Tavern. Ken gets behind the bar and he serves up different wines from the area. You chat with him and the other guests. It is so much fun! They are just great hosts! If you are not sure what vineyards to visit when you get there, don't worry, Ken and Suzie will totally help you with all of that too! I honestly don't think I could stay anywhere else but the Cedar Gables Inn next time I visit Napa Valley. We went to Sonoma and stayed at another very nice B&B, but it just wasn't the same as this place. Its honestly hard to beat.

most enjoyable stay

My husband and I booked a last minute getaway at Cedar Gables in June 17th ''07. We are avid B&B er's and have pretty high standards regarding our accomodations. Firstly we loved the look of this mansion inside and out and were very impressed that there was NONE of the typical "musty" smell that is usually present in 100+ year homes we have stayed in. We were plesantly surprized with the yummy aroma of fresh baked brownies as we entered the home and signed in. Ken was so enviting and made us feel right at home and gave us a quick tour of this beautiful home. We stayed in the Gables Suite upstair and it is all and more than the website shows. Ken and Susie were the most gracious hosts accomodating my dietary needs that include a few food allergies and the fact that I'm a vegetarian. They did this not begrudginly (as I experienced at other places) but were truely happy to meet our needs. By the way we had the most yummy breakfast!!! Susie is an amazing chef!!!!!!!!!! Our getaway ended way to fast for us and we were sorry to have to leave this wonderful jewel in Napa but we will definately be returning for a longer stay in the near future. Thanks again Ken and Susie!! Eric and I wish you much continued success!!!!!!!

FUN Innkeepers - accommodating & simply awesome

by TripAdvisor Member CTLADY_USA

Ken & Susie are the Innkeepers and gosh are they ever so terrific - as are their staff. Their personalities catered to our souls and Susie's cooking catered to my special diet. Several secret staircases and magnificent antiques. VERY COOL. Ask Ken about the Ghost of Lady Margaret story ... laugh out loud funny! During happy hour you might be able to coax Ken into playing the guitar and singing a bit - he's really good. The Inn is beautifully kept and conveniently located. Ken & Susie are very good at asking the right questions to figure out your tastes and what vineyards you might enjoy best. There are the staple tourist things to see - We personally recommend the hot air balloon, magnifcient views over the valley!

Many thanks to Ken, Susie & staff!
Sincerely,
Tammy & Heath
