A wonderful experience
Our fourth time at the Manor. It is a delightful step back a century. The home and grounds are spectacular, the beds comfortable, the owners and staff friendly and helpful. We'll be back.

We visited Napa for two nights mid January 2006. This was about a week and a half after the major floods. While we could look past the sandbags still lingering in front of some businesses, it was hard to not notice how many storefronts were left vacant. It felt somewhat deserted. If we were to return to the area we would probably choose to stay in a location closer to the middle of the Napa Valley.
I would recommend this hotel to those interested in the grand qualities of a historic hotel willing to accept the creaks in the staircase and the creaks of older furniture. There is something to be said for the older design with stained wood trim and covered wrap around porches. I didn't see an elevator so you may want to ask about a room on the second floor instead of the third floor if stairs are an issue - there are no rooms on the first floor. There are no televisions in the rooms, however they have 1 tv in the library/sitting room in the common space.
They had two breakfast options each morning, polenta with a poached egg and salsa or orange zest french toast and on the second morning an omelet with tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese and sour cream or the orange zest french toast. They also had a self serve table set up with teas, cider, coffee, hot cocoa, granola, milk, water and orange juice along with a basket of muffins and croisants.
Unique Quality: This is a beautiful historic hotel in downtown Napa. It is a grand estate on 1 acre with beautiful grounds and extremely grand interior. The rooms are well decorated with beautiful furniture and warm touches. The staff was very helpful and inviting. When we arrived we were offered an upgrade - we originally booked the least expensive room. In the end we ended up in the master suite used for the bridal suite. It was extremely grand with a king sized bed, fireplace, sitting area, makeup table and mirror, grand armoire, a 2 person claw foot tub, a 2 person glass door and tile shower - with 2 shower heads, 1 lower and 1 higher to accomodate shorter and taller people. The furnishings and wallpaper take you back 100 years with all the modern necessities of today.
The only deterrant would be some of the surrounding properties and those tenants. Across the street from the guest parking lot is an apartment complex parking lot that had some untrustworthy people sitting on the vehicles listening to music. This helped us decide to park our vehicle around the corner to the side of the hotel near the entrance we used the most. There is another property that backs to the Churchill Manor that seems to be an apartment complex that had many juvs outside and some louder music at times. As long as we kept the windows closed - which was fine since there were no screens on the windows and didn't want the bugs to come in - we weren't bothered. I can't say either of these issues would prevent us from staying there again but they are good to know ahead of time.

Our room was elegant, and the downstairs and grounds even more so. This old inn obviously has been remodeled and refurbished recently. Our room included amenities such as a glowing Dutch fireplace, brass fixtures, and a large and comfortable bed.
Downstairs is tastefully and sumptuously furnished. Especially noteworthy were restored redwood (burl?) paneling and rolling door, probably priceless.
Breakfast on the enclosed sunlit porch overlooking the grounds was excellent, with wide choices. Service was prompt and friendly. The exterior showed a handsome Victorian surrrounded by very green lawn and what clearly will be a colorful assortment of flowers in the spring.
A bonus is a series of monthly professional concerts held in the living room, which includes a very fine piano. The room is ideal for a small gathering to witness a performance, which happened to be classical guitar when were there.
Highest rating form our viewpoint.
What a Beautiful Inn!
My sister and I stayed at Churchill Manor last month. It was a very short vacation away from our husbands and children and jobs. Sister time is a very rare thing and we really enjoy every chance we get to spend time together on our own. The inn was beautiful and welcoming with a wrap around veranda and what I'm sure will be stunning gardens when the roses bloom. Dark woods, small furniture groupings, a log on the fire, Dean Martin playing softly through the parlors, all made us feel that time was ticking by very slowly and that we could relax and really enjoy our stay.
There was a wine and cheese reception in the evening and that was very pleasant. They had a good red wine that we enjoyed and several kinds of cheeses and crackers. We got good restaurant advice from the staff and then went on to dinner.
Our room was very inviting and we each took a long soaking bubble bath in the huge bathtub. There was a small couch where we sat and talked. The bed was very comfortable. We used the fireplace in our room and added another log as we sat up late and enjoyed our time out of time.
Breakfast the next morning was delicious. They served us omelettes and fruit, and we also had croissants and orange juice and coffee. The solarium where breakfast is served was bright and inviting, even on a gloomy February day. We sat and drank coffee and talked with the innkeeper and another guest. We even had time for a cut throat game of Scrabble before we checked out.
I'd love to go back with my husband, it was a very romantic setting and atmosphere. I look forward to staying there the next time I'm in Napa.
Spent a wonderful evening and morning at Churchill Manor, an historic home in downtown Napa. Beautiful garden surroundings, elegant Victorian furniture. Best of all, attention and service from the manager and owner.
Lovely breakfast in the historic sunroom, overlooking the garden. Room was most comfortable, with huge bathtub (or shower) to luxuriate in!
Owners Joanna and Brian make you comfortable and recommend restaurants and wineries to visit.
It was a very relaxing stay!
We did quite a bit of research on B & B's in Napa Valley and we were VERY pleased with this place. The architecture and antiques in this giant house were very impressive. The room was extremely clean; we almost felt guilty getting into the pristine bed. The breakfast was incredible as well. The only negative part about this place was that my wife had trouble falling asleep due to loud banging late in the evening. We didn't bother asking what it was in the AM, but assume it was the front door closing after everyone came back for the night.
My husband and I stayed at Churchill Manor for three nights. It was absolutely wonderful! This was our first B&B experience, and I cannot imagine any other topping this one.
It is large enough so that you don't feel too cozy with other guests, but small enough to have all of the special touches that make the stay wonderful. The bed was SO comfortable. We also had a two person claw-foot tub and an enormous two person shower. The interior is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The location is great, walking distance to many of the popular nearby restaurants, and it seems more secluded than the other B&Bs in Napa because there are large hedges surrounding the entire Manor, with beautiful landscaping. Breakfast was wonderful. There are several smaller tables to sit at and we spent all of our breakfasts on the beautiful wrap around porch overlooking the garden. The evening wine/cheese reception was a great touch. The inkeepers and staff are very welcoming and helpful in planning your itinerary while in the area.
I can't recommend this place enough. It was absolutely wonderful!
Everything is first class. Friendly, clean, quality amenities, great breakfasts. The bathroom looked like it had never been used before. Happy hour every night with quality cheeses and wine. Meeting other travelers made easy by breakfast setting and happy hour; and, complete privacy also made easy. The owners do not skimp on anything, including the bountiful gardens of beautiful roses.
My wife and I spent 4 nights here in mid Sept 2005. We were only able to make plans about 2 weeks in advance and had a hard time finding any accommodations. So we were very happy that they had a room for us, and, even more, that it was such a nice place. The large house is in a residential neighborhood just a few blocks from downtown Napa - very convenient. The city itself is fun, and it works very well as a base for exploration of Napa and Carneros. Our room on the top (3rd) floor was large, nicely appointed with period furniture, but not at all kitchy. The bathroom was comfortable, up-to-date, fine. Public areas were spacious. Inkeepers Joanna and Brian and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful; Brian particularly took time to advise guests on wineries worth visiting and other attractions. Breakfast was delicious. We were alsways still out, so we can' t comment on their late afternoon wine-and-cheese offering. We recommend Churchill Manor to friends and would stay there again.
This is definitely one of the best choices for lodging in downtown Napa. The building and grounds are kept in impeccable shape. The rooms are clean, distinctive and well decorated. We enjoyed the wine & cheese out on their porch overlooking beautiful flowers and a well manicured garden. The staff was as helpful as can be, especially owner Brian who was just a pleasure to talk with. In addition to some pastries and beverages each AM, they offer a choice of 2 main breakfast dishes. Everything my wife and I had was excellent, hopefully you're there when they serve the mushroom quiche - awesome! This B&B is located just a few blocks from the center of Napa, an easy walk. It's not the cheapest place in town but an absolute bargain for what you get. We didn't want to leave!!
