This is the Super 8 Motel
The rates here are less than the others nearby, especially for someone staying more than a few days and that’s good to know if you are on a budget. The quote I got for the summer of 2010 was $47.00 per night plus tax, (10%) Their weekly rate was $377.00 plus tax.
There are three motels on this street, less than a block from each other and I liked this one, over all, better than the others. I didn’t stay here but talked to the very helpful receptionist to get information for a fellow VT’er who plans to visit San Diego this summer.
This motel is located on the corner of 4th Street and Roosevelt Avenue and less than a quarter of a mile, at 8th Street, then a block or so west of Roosevelt Avenue is the 8th Street Trolley station so if you’ll rely on public transportation you don’t have far to get to it. If you’ll have the use of a car, the entrance to the Interstate 5 freeway is just before the Trolley station. Parking at the motel is free.
Unique Quality: The pool and spa are small but good enough for a hot summer day. There is a laundry room for guests and each room has a microwave and refrigerator and free local calls and WiFi.
Just to the right of the reception desk was a small area with table and chairs for guests who want to take advantage of the free full breakfast served everyday between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. They offer smoking and non-smoking rooms.
