Budget Motel

I haven’t stayed here, only came to get information and an impression of the place for a fellow VT’er who asked about it.

Located in the six hundred block of Roosevelt this motel is as good as the others near by. The price is not as low as at the Super-8, but not too far behind. At this moment, summer of 2010, they charge $49.99 per night on week days and $69.99 on Fridays and Saturdays. Plus tax, naturally. No weekly rate.

They offer free Continental breakfast, free high speed Internet access, microwave, refrigerator, guest laundry room and free parking. Of course, free local calls and cable TV are standard.

Unique Quality: Interesting, I saw a sign for the pool, but didn’t see a pool. It could have been tucked in a corner that I couldn’t reach by car. I don’t know, so no promises. Ask when you contact the motel for more information.

What makes this place, as the others on this page, worth thinking of is that a bus stop and the SD Trolley is within walking distance making it easy enough to use public transportation to get to downtown area of San Diego City or any other destination you’ll want to go while in San Diego County.

Within a few (short) blocks there are a few dining choices in varying price ranges. Jack-in-Box, across the street, Aunt Emma’s, a family style restaurant is on National City Boulevard just a block east and a couple of blocks north. The restaurant and bar at the Holiday Inn is open to the public and a block or two further is The Living Room Coffeehouse, which offers, besides coffees and teas, very nice desserts and light "lunch" type meals. I am a fan of The Living Room Coffeehouses, but haven’t actually tried this one as it is new to the area..
