Piccadily Budget Hotel: A good luxury hotel at budget cost
I stayed there on the opening day. The Hotel offered me a 25% discount. Even without discount the rates were very good. Service was excellent. House keeping superb. I loved the breakfast.
They do lack a bit of co-ordination, but that is understood given that they are just very new.

Four Points by Sheraton San Francisco Bay Bridge: Four Points by Sheraton San Francisco Bay Bridge
This is a decent place to stay... good quality, and good location. This is the closest Starwood Preferred hotel to the Oakland area, and it satisfied my needs. Four Points in general are not quite as nice as Sheratons, but this price was well worth it.
Very common low end hotel.

Hotel Travelers: If you're on a budget
Hotel Travelers is located near the Chinatown district of Oakland. If you're on a shoe-string budget, and wish to spend at least a week exploring San Francisco, I recommend this place. Weekly rates start at $135. It's usually hard to get a room, so you should call well in advance. This is the least expensive place you could stay in, so it's not going to be like the Ritz. I recommend this place to students & backpackers.
Clean, cheap, close to Chinatown, Oakland, & Bart. Safe & friendly staff.

Lake Merritt Hotels: Oakland Hotels
The Clarion Suites Lake Merritt is a first class hotel that is located near Oakland Intl. Airport. Situated majestically on the shores of Lake Merritt there is a special treat awaiting you. Step into the past by entering this charming Mediterranean Art Deco building which was originally built in 1927, and was restored to its glory in 1990 and again in early 2000. The hotel is a 50 room boutique hotel which specializes in suites, small meeting accommodations and special events. The 2000 restoration of the hotel was designed by Candra Scott & Associates, who took special care to select furnishings and accessories to best enhance the hotel's stunning Mediterranean Art Deco architectural features.
The decor includes lush axminster carpeting with vintage geometric fabric and exotic flowers in chestnut, gold, red, and green; walls painted in a rich terra cotta color; wrought iron chandeliers; overstuffed Art Deco furniture covered in jewel tone mohair fabric; Lloyd Loom wicker chairs and cocktail tables and large specimen plants. The hotel is minutes to fine dining, shopping and entertainment.

I can't say it's my favorite,...
I can't say it's my favorite, but I stayed in Pleasanton at the Residence Inn... A bit snobby, by they had free beer. Check out the salt shaker, I think this about sums the place up...
$125 per night, corporate weekday rate.
