Marina Del Mar, consists of two large buildings housing 78 condos, of which appx 40+ are rented out by the absent owners for vacation rentals. Interiors vary, but LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION... the only condo complex completely surrounded by sea water (during high tide) just across the street (two way) from the beach and the small Oceanside Harbor is under the Harbor (building B) balcony's.
The ocean side building (A) every unit has a FULL view of the beach. The harbor side, every unit has a FULL view of the harbor directly under it. The quaint harbor shops include the Nautical Bean Coffee shop, Harbor dinners, Ice Cream Shop, etc. They are just a few steps away. The rotating beacon of the Harbor lighthouse does NOT keep you up at night! But, it sure is cute over the calm harbor waters. Music drifts from the shops back to the condo balcony's but not inside.
The third building is the office/upstairs meeting room, and pool table/game room. The rec area includes Jacuzzi (*Huge-12 person cap) kept at 104 degrees and the pool, kept at 82+ degrees year round.
My first visit I was amazed at how unique the facility was and that you can't get any closer to the outstanding beach. I love it. I purchased a condo here and although I am now a full time resident, (I do not rent out anything here.) I can't tell you how great it is to live in such a place. The only condo's in the harbor with a beach directly outside and the closest to the harbor shops.
Unique Quality: The beach has been rated for 6 years in a row as being the most beautiful beach in California (old review but noteworthy). Extending North from the complex the beach includes many fire pits and play areas for kids. This complex is built on a "spit" of land which contains the harbor, so the condo's are completely surrounded by sea water and on the south side is the San Juan River mouth that fills with sea water during high tide. Excellent access to the beach and harbor, which are just a couple steps away. Handicap units are available.
Beautiful area, terrific views of both ocean and harbor and delightful rooms.
Directions: Camp Pendelton has its main gate just a mile from the condo complex and is easy access. Oceanside city is just down the Pacific Coast hwy about 4-5 miles away. 30 miles north of San Diego and about 1.4 hrs from Disneyland, etc.
We stumbled across this place while driving around looking for a place to stay in Oceanside at the end of October. Checkin was easy at the front office and we got a beach-facing room. The condos are individually owned, so each one is different. Ours was a clean one-bedroom unit facing the beach.
This would be a good place for a family vacation at the beach (the units have full kitchens and long-term rates). Its right across from the beach in the Oceanside marina area -- see attached pics.
Unique Quality: Gated parking. Rates vary by unit and by season. Internet access depends on which unit you get -- some have it, some don't. Its also near the launch ramp in the marina, but I doubt the condo complex will let you store your boat in its parking lot.
Directions: In the Oceanside marina across from the beach and before reaching the boat ramp.
