Rustic Rancho Motel

A funky rustic motel from the 1950s. This motel used to be called the Rancho Motel back in the 1970s when I stayed there as a teenager. The Rancho is a much more fitting name for this place than the Rose Garden Inn, but they planted roses all over the place, so there you have it. The rooms are attatched in a rancho courtyrard design. The entire motel is a red barn motif. The style is competed by a knotty pine interior. Very cozy and cute, but not fancy or posh. Rooms come with kitchen or sitting room. Our kitchen was not fully stocked, so you have to bring your own utenisils, pots & pans, etc.
Rooms were clean.

Unique Quality: Nice pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Grass area as well. Again nothing fancy but the pool was heated and the sauna was wonderful. Snacks are served in the afternoon, popcorn and lemonade, this place is very downhome. The breakfasts are very nice. Muffins, danish, bagels, fruit, fresh coffee and oatmeal. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They got a real kick out of me staying there 25 years ago.

Our Go-to place

Formerly the Rose Garden Inn, this is a very pleasant little no-frills inn. The rooms may not be anything fancy, but they are pretty spacious and comfy and have everything you could need. Our room came with cable TV, king bed, standing shower (no tub) and a good-sized kitchenette. On the grounds, there's a shared swimming pool and a sauna.

We stayed here just this month, just a little too early for the roses, which bloom on the inn's lawn in spring (I know this because we've stayed here in spring before).

Right behind the property is the Ojai bike/walking path. It's just over 5 minutes' walk to town.
