Capri by the Sea!: PB Residential @ The Beach!

This twelve story structure is a sample of living at the beach in PB. Most of the houses and residential type bulidings along this stretch serve a dual purpose, to live in or to rent out. Many of the condominiums at Capri by the Sea can be rented for a minimum of three nights. The rates are high, but reasonable. The price for a one bedroom condo ranges from $150--$320 depending on the location of the condo. There are also two bedroom condos available and a three bedroom penthouse suite will set you back almost $500.00 per night. I haven't a clue of the cost if buying is the object, but over the million mark at least.

These condos are individually owned so the style of decor and amemities will be different from one to the other. However, they all have everything one would expect of a furnished apartment and at this place you can expect a lot more than a fully equipped kitchen!

The Views are exceptional! Parking is free!! Most unique of all is the twenty-four hour security of building and parking.

The Surfer Beach Hotel!: The Quintessential Name!

Another, "on-the-beach-hotel!" Not really priced in the "surfer's" budget range ! Room prices start at $139.00 and go up to about $180.00 for the Sunset Suite, so you have an idea what to expect in that aspect. This hotel also charges $8.00 for parking and offers the standard amenities.

Near and similar to the BW Blue Sea Lodge, this offers a bonus of "Family Suites" with dining room seating eight! They have a sun-deck with swimming pool and of course are just across the boardwalk from the sand, Pacific Ocean and fantastic sunsets. One plus is World Famous, a restaurant and bar with great ocean view dining.

The Crystal Pier Hotel: cottage #2 -- detail

Each cottage has a different cut-out decoration on its window shutters -- the insides are decorated in "beach style" -- spare but clean and functional.

The Crystal Pier Hotel: "sleep over the ocean"

The most unique quality is that these cotttages are on a pier over the water. The outsides look a bit funky, but inside they are nicely set-up for a comfortable stay. From the reviews on tripadvisor.com your experience can range from the lulling to the thundrous -- depending on the surf. As you can see from the picture -- you drive your car right onto the pier and park in front of your cottage.

Beach Rentals: Life At The Beach

All along the beach area there are condos for rent. Weekly rates and monthly rates are a bit high, but happily paid by those wanting to experience California beach living.

Spending a week, or more, on the beach is something even San Diegans do. Pacific Beach is full of appartment type buildings and cottage type buildings.

Off season prices are sometimes lower, but not always. Expect to pay on average $1,100.00 to $2,100.00 for a week's rental.

Most of these rentals include cooking utensils for the kitchens. Cooking at "home" will cut the cost of eating out all the time which makes the higher rate of renting such a condo, a little more affordable.

It is the proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the California Beach style living that it the big reason for paying so much for a few days. There are small walk ways from Mission Boulevard to the beach and on either side are cozy little cottages, many of these are for rent by the week. Though they offer privacy, you must also expect to hear loud music day and night, loud talking and lots of foot traffic anytime, day or night. This is the atmosphere especially during the summer, but not unheard of in the dead of winter either.

CRYSTAL PIER MOTEL: A LOCAL ACCOMMODATION!

Crystal Pier Motel is located directly on the pier. It is pretty expensive but the cottages look great for that special romantic weekend. Take a Tour of the cottages before deciding.

This is a unique choice for a few nights stay. Be warned that during the day the pier is open to the public and it is not unusual for all manner of people to be seen passing the cottage doors on their way to a bit of fishing. Then be assured that at night the gates are closed and all is safe.

Individual cottages along the pier with a small kitchen, a small balcony, a wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean and let's not forget the parking! This is the ideal place for anyone wanting to spend more time in their room than touring. Such as honeymooners.
