Peaceful Inn

by TripAdvisor Member ConumdrumExplorers

What a lovely Inn - great Craftsman house and each room has it's own personality. Charlie and Diane are the best of Innkeepers - friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to making the guest's stay memorable. Oh yes, Charlie's breakfasts are wonderful!

A wonderful return

by TripAdvisor Member LasVegasWanderer

My wife and I have visited here several times over the years. Our latest trip for my birthday was outstanding. Our past visits have always been at least pleasant, (last in mid 2004), but Charlie and Di are bringing the property back to its formerly high standards. The Inn is a short walk from any of the attractions of Pacific Grove and it is a classic beauty showing some signs of its age. The Inn is convenient to Carmel and Monterey if one feels the need to wander beyond Pacific Grove. Charlie and Di are delightful hosts, dedicated to making any guests' stay a wonderful experience. We expect that in a relatively short time they will have taken care of any of the issues previous guests have remarked on. We wish them a long and successful tenure in their new careers as the resident innkeepers.

A welcome retreat!

We had a wonderful stay in the Sanderling Room in the main house of the inn and look forward to returning.

Innkeepers (Dianna and Charlie Wareing): Friendly, pleasant, attentive, and great hosts.

Our room: Our room was charming and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable.

The common areas: When we arrived, wine and cheese were being served in the living room with guests talking and enjoying themselves in front of the fireplace. Very nice atmosphere. Off to one side is an lovely enclosed porch with seating.

Location: The inn is centrally located in Pacific Grove, with the ocean, dining, shopping, etc., all within a couple miles.

Details: Reservations, check in, and check out were hassle-free. Free parking in both lot and on street in quiet and safe neighborhood.

The high point of our trip

by TripAdvisor Member dontdothis

Recently, My Wife Lynne and Myself was given an evening at a Bed and Breakfast in Monterey CA. This was our first experience at this type of establishment, and it was nothing other than perfect. Our accommodations were more than comfortable. We experienced a level of relaxation and tranquility we both almost forgot to be possible.

The innkeepers, (Charley and Dianna) were superb hosts as warm as our best friends and just as comfortable to converse with. We were fortunate to have been able to join our hosts for wine and hordourves that Charley prepared as a great chef. This couple seems to be so well read; we enjoyed talking with them about metaphysics to nuclear physics, and everything in between.

After a great night of rest and sleep, we were able to join them for more conversation at breakfast that Charley once again did a great job of preparation before we left to continue our journey.

Thank you Charley and Dianna for a wonderful visit and the highpoint of our vacation.

Room with a view

Dianna's charm in the dining room is matched by Charlie's skill in the kitchen - what a team! Dianna's tour of the beautiful victorian reflected her pride in the historical home and it's grounds. The views from the lower living area are only outdone by that of the second level's bedroom's - I know what room I'm staying in next time! Thank you - here's to many more visits!

Worth the Stay!

by TripAdvisor Member GrayokExplorer

My partner and I decided to travel to California to relax and experience the sights of Pacific Grove and Monterrey. The area offers many adventures, from exploring seashores teaming with wildlife to butterfies fluttering about and from whalewatching to wine tasting this is a must visit location.

Much to our pleasant surprise, the Inn proved to be one of the best parts of the trip. The beautiful and well-appointed rooms was only matched by the incredible food prepared by Charles and the charm and wit of Diana.

If you have not had the pleasure of doing so - make arrangements to stay at the Inn. You will not be disappointed!

This is what it's all about

by TripAdvisor Member aki5

It's simple, just be fabulous hosts and everything else becomes unimportant. That's the truth of this wonderful B&B. Of course, the location is a dream, the beautiful turn of the century craftsman building - impeccably maintained, the charming nearby town of Pacific Grove, the terrific weather, etc., are all great assets. But, without Charlie and Dianne, it would just be another place to stay.

They are amazing, keeping things clean and maintained, without it looking like an effort. They always have time to chat - and really listen too. You can tell this is not just a job; it's the life they want to live. They care for you like family. They are wonderful hosts and, as wonderful a place as it is, that is what separates The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive from just another place to stay.

Ambiance, Warmth & Hospitality

by TripAdvisor Member Broadway_Gal

We highly recommend this Inn. What makes one Inn difference from another is the ambiance created by the Innkeepers. Dianna and Charlie have gone the extra mile in warmth and hospitality and attention to detail. They remember everyone's name. Charlie is a passionate chef.
During our stay, he made wonderful hot breakfasts and then outdid himself for the "wine and cheese" in the afternoon. That was a lovely buffet with homemade dips and corned beef. Most of the guests came to the living room to socialize for about 2 hours over the hors d'ouvres.
Dianna made sure we took a thermos of hot tea and honey and lemon to the room for nursing a bad cold. It felt like home and we were certainly spoiled!

Lovely B&B - Highly Recommended

by TripAdvisor Member GoneTravelin

We just returned from a one night stay (much too short) at this lovely B&B. Our room, the Avocet, was large and so was the ensuite bathroom. The queen bed was extremely comfortable.

But as others have said, the best part about staying here is the warmth from the managers, Charlie and Dianna. They welcome their guests as part of their family. They host an evening wine and snack hour and definitely keep the conversation flowing. Dianna remembers everyone's name and introduces everyone to each other.

The breakfast was magnificent, including fresh fruit and a hot breakfast served in the beautiful dining room. There's no need for lunch after eating one of Charlie's breakfasts.

Warm greeting and warm good bye

by TripAdvisor Member tifflocke

My husband and I had a wonderful stay from start to finish. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome , a warm fire and a glass of wine and food. Charlie out does himself with all the cooking and Dianna is so warm and easy to talk to. We had a wonderful stay. The second night we went back for " wine and cheese" and realized that we had stayed in the palor for 3 hours. Totally missed dinner out. But we did not complain. The only complainent is that we could not stay longer. Coming from a degree in Hosptalitiy and working in a B&B myself. All I can say is that I give this B&B an A+++++++.
