Your photo needs can be taken care of at most shopping locations and very inexpensive compared to other countries standards! Basic camping gear, tent, sleeping bags, cooking gear can be brought in. There are no public campgrounds in Pacifica. Further along the coast to Half Moon Bay there are a few camp sites (Kelly Park) for beach camping or (Laguna Honda) for camping i the woods. "The Best Ever?"
The 'best' ham and cheese sandwich? Those are fighting words. The fight is won before it even begins. Colombo's, an Italian deli and bakery is the source of this culinary high point. Follow close now dear reader. Two slices of fresh sourdough bread, baked by Colombo, who still kneads the bread daily. He is close to seventy now. He does the sensible thing. He kneads and leaves. The rest of the family run the place. Three generations.
The bread is so soft that your fingers bruise it, as you eat the sandwich. It has a crust so chewy, it takes all the 39 muscles in your jaw to masticate it effectively. The inside is brushed with a light pat of mayo. Nestling in it are two slices of fine Virginia Ham flecked with black pepper and two slices of freshly shaved Aged Sharp NY Cheddar
You may not regard this simple sandwich as a work of art. But then, your opinion doesn't count. You are an auslander,' remember?
The sandwich is resting in its paper bag. It is a patient sandwich which knows its karmic Realization lies 9 miles south.of its present location. One more stop: Mazzetti's konditori. I know, I know, 'konditori is Deutsch and Mazzeti is an Eyetalian name. My speak is a peppered with phrases and words from my travels over the years, Shukriya. Picture a mid sizes muffin, not a le grande American. Petite. Made that morning. The crown flecked with poppy seeds, and an orangy rindy after taste, Stuffed with sweet Philly cream cheese, topped with an a cherry preserve. No good food, huh, 'auslander?' Well, we don't want you to know, in case you find it so good that you keep coming back, and horrors! Discover the REAL Pacifica! Vee vill not letz zat okkur. On to Point Pedro park, then. A drive past the pier, Linda Mar and Reina del Mar to the fifth village
It is a small park. Ah, dear reader, the first time you go there, it might fool you, much like the 'auslander' is fooled There are secrets to be unveiled here. If you walk into the grove, you discover the sounds of water running. A small creek, no more than 4-6" deep. In January, you can see the steelhead salmon swimming upstream all the way to the Sacramento Delta to spawn. This is the ONLY place you see this stream. From here on, it goes underground, and while still so, empties into the Sac River. Walk past the creaky nine foot bridge and turn left. Within yards, you come to a tri-fork. One coming up from the other side of the park, and the other headed up Mt Montara. Now, step back about three steps. Still see the three forks? Good. Revel now in nature and take a whiz, men. Its America's best outdoor whiz. Only your backyard late at night can surpass it! OK, OK, OK, so let him who casts the first stone, pun intended, etc.The water falls about 1 mile up, in the winter.(Never mind the waterfall here) The birds are singing and flitting all year. garbage disposed, jeez the puns kep coming, we head to Devil's Slide
