Fairfield Inn Palm Desert

We stayed here three nights. Like most of the Fairfield Inns, this one has a buffet breakfast that includes a self-serve waffle maker. The breakfast room was quite busy in the mornings with families coming and going. Nearby is a computer room with free access, but the rooms also have an ethernet cable for internet. We had a kingsized bed in a studio style suite. There was a big screen TV with cable access. Bathroom sinks are decked with cultured marble and the tub/shower is a fiberglass enclosure. There's no smoking anywhere inside the hotel, so smokers have to go outside. Parking is adequate. We saw people taking advantage of the spa and pool, but we didn't take the time during our long weekend in winter to swim.

Unique Quality: Some rooms have good views of the mountains, but the best feature of this hotel is its close proximity to El Paseo Drive and Desert Wildlife Zoo. Nothing is cheap in Palm Desert, so this is about as good a deal as one could expect. We noticed that while smoking wasn't allowed, pets were. I believe that this should be an additional charge though.

Directions: Take the Monterey Exit off I-10 and drive for several miles to Hwy 111. Turn right and go a few blocks. You'll find it on the right side.
