Tip for everyone: go on an adventure as early as possible, try and avoid the heat and sun between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the summer.

Presidential Worship

Saint Margaret's Episcopal Church where President Gerald Ford's family and community funeral occured is located in Palm Desert on Hwy 74. This was his place of worship in the last years of his life. Immediately next door is the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church where President Eisenhower attended regularly. These are large churches with substantial numbers of wealthy members, and so these churches are able to have far reaching ministries all over the world. Don't expect ceremonies here to be overly drab or ritualistic. The membership emphasizes the informal and uplifting spiritual gatherings helpful for aging folks within a retirement community such as Palm Desert.

This whole boulevard is art and that is not all of it. You will find it all over Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, and Palms Springs. It is amazing and I had wished I had much more time to seek it all out. I wish more communities would indulge in this public display of artistry.

The Joshua Tree National Park Trek

"One man's floor..."

OK - it's a National Park. The gods of preservation have deemed this area worthy of protection. I for one, don't get it. For those of you that like wide-open HOT areas -- this is Nirvana-and lots of it. I for one don't care for the place. Lots of rock climbing and hiking in a brown environment. Enjoy - there are not many things to see inside the park that you don't see outside the park. Oh well, at least you can get your National Park passport stamped here.
