Wind Turbines
by torototammy
As you enter Coachella Valley, you'll find tons of the wind turbine power generators.
Surprised at how big they are and overwhelmed by the numbers of them. I ended up taking a lot of photos but they don't show the impact I got there...
It's our Fault - the San Andreas
by JimTammy
We recently drove out to the Coachella Valley Preserve. We knew the San Andreas Fault was here in our backyard, but this naturally beautiful setting really took us by surprise. It's Amazing! The San Andreas Fault is the one that people think will break off and drop California into the Pacific ocean. Water bubbles up from the ground and creates a true oasis in the desert. A trip here is so relaxing and beautiful it couldn't be dangerous.
Plus a cabin made from palm trees, history of the area, and info about native plants animals and even fish.
A nice place to hike and picnic.
I never ran into a bad one!.....
by mumzzy4u about The Deck
Ahhh...Palm Springs. Anyone who's anyone has been to PS and, needless to say, there is something about this city...something so rich and sexy. Just a speck in the California Desert; for some reason, all my doubts about another hot spot in CA vanished as I spent one GLORIOUS weekend there. Who wants to go to a desert? Someone who yearns for a quick getaway and does NOT want to be disappointed. PS is definitevely the way to go. The Deck was the icing on the cake...Romantic and sexual atmosphere with an impeccable menu to say the least. While rolling the best seafood dishes around your tongue, the best local jazz band plays live around you, leaving you breathless and wanting more of both...everything about PS is indescribable...and this is just my first addition to VirtualTourist...I have so many more!!! Here's to your local getaway....

Palm Canyon (Indian Canyons)
by JanPeter74
Indian Canyons is a group of oasis located just outside the town of Palm Springs at the end of the South Palm Canyon Drive.
The most important is Palm Canyon, which is a very nice oasis in the middle of the rocky desert. Another one which is equally beautiful is Andreas Canyon, only a 10 minute drive from Palm Canyon.
Filled with palm trees, both places are a great opportunity to hike a bit along streams and in the shadow of the trees. It really is a strange experience to find water and groups of palm trees in the dead surrounding landscape.
Definitely worth a visit, when in the neighbourhood. Take 2-3 hours to visit them both. And again, bring lots of water.
