hotels

Hello there!

Anyone got any advice on some nice hotels in Palm Springs that is situated in a good location? I'm staying there during the summer for a few days.

Also do you know any nice places to go out at night?

Thanks Sarah xx

Hey Sarah. Welcome to VT If you are looking for a party, then Costa's at the Palm Desert Marriott is the place to go, and you can stay there so you don't have to travel far. The pool is very party oriented to. It's where lots of people go for bachelorette and bachelor parties from LA.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, there are also some good clubs in Palm Springs itself and I can check and see if they're still around. Red74 is one of them.

Drop me a note if you need other help.

See you

G

I'd second the recomendation for Palm Desert.

Palm Springs proper is overbuilt, crowded, and short on parking.
Desert Hot Springs ( where I am right now, FWIW ) has low prices, but we are finding that we have to drive 10-20 miles for a good restaurant. Next time, we're going southeast.

Try the part of Palm Desert where a street called El Paseo parallels highway 111 for eight or ten blocks. I don't know about the hotels, but the restaurants and shopping are wonderful.

If you have any particular questions, ask them before 10am Pacific standard time tomorrow, and I might be able to have a look before we leave.

Travel Tips for Palm Springs

Enjoy the scenery

by mafootje

when you walk through Palm Springs you are sure to find places which remind you that it can be very dry here if there's no irrigation by humans...

The good thing about it you can take nice pictures as if you were in a place far away from other people...Looks nice in your photo album...

PGA West - Greg Norman

by Weaver78

Looking for a good and challenging game of golf? Check out the PGA West Greg Norman Golf Course. This is not your normal all "green" course. Between the fairways there is desert sand, brush, and some wildlife. Playing in December is a great time to get a good game in with out the rush of people or feeling pushed to finish. If you looking for a course that you enjoy driving around in the grass chasing your ball around, this one your going to have to stay on the beaten path. Our group of four got in 15 holes before it got too dark and cold for us. For $85 thats not bad for a start time of 1:30pm on a PGA West Golf Course. Golf Clubs and proper golf course attire is required. Collared shirts and no denim. Bring a warm top if you think you might be out past dusk. It gets cold real quick!

The Cork’n Bottle Building Historical Marker

The Cork’n Bottle Building
Built 1935-36

A rare example of a Depression Era Art Modern style building in Palm Springs. The double and triple bands of horizontal streamline moldings, flat unembellished blocky wall surfaces, and symmetrical façade are characteristics of the Art Modern Style.

Originally Simpson’s Radio & Frigidaire Company, the Cork’n Bottle occupied the building since 1950.

Las Casuelas Terraza

by Erin74 about Las Casuelas Terraza

Las Casuelas Terraza is one of the most popular and interesting restaurants in Palm Springs and one place that you must eat while you're visiting the area. The restaurant is packed at dinnertime, particularly on the weekends. You really must make a reservation (unless you want to wait an hour and 20 minutes, as we did). One good tip to know: this restaurant tends to be very busy between 6-8pm, but the crowds taper off after 8:00. If you eat on the later side, you shouldn't have such a hard time getting a table.

This restaurant is very large. The bar area has a band on weekends-- sit here if you like loud music, but ask for a table on the other end of the restaurant if you don't.

The restaurant is decorated in a Spanish style and has lovely murals on some of the walls. You'll see lots of Mexican art, wrought iron and even hanging pinatas. The margaritas are very tasty at Las Casuelas Terraza. I highly recommend the blended strawberry margarita.

The dishes here tend to be on the large side and are very filling. I ordered an appetizer, the Black Bean Pizza with Grilled Chicken and it was large enough for a whole meal. It was also delicious and I recommend it!

The combination plates are great and are served with lots of rice and beans. I also recommend the nachos-- they are made with delicious, fresh cheese and an assortment of toppings.

Windmills

by mikarov99

The windmills, is a icon of palm springs has two forms to view this, when you are coming from Los Angeles via Freeway 10 you can view this, a lot of windmills and the first time you can impress. The 2nd is choise a tour, I don't like tours lol.
