Relaxation in the Desert
by TripAdvisor Member jfkivrhett
I just spent a few days in the Desert at La Dolce Vita Resort..This was my second stay and will continue to re-visit this property and I recommend them to my friends as a great get-away..The staff was extremely personable and friendly and the property itself is clean and very well landscaped..I like that it is very spreadout with 2 pools on each wing...I could spend a few hours at each pool and have different scenery...It's the Best..I loved the "more than sufficient" Continental Breaksfast served poolside as I didnt have to worry about missing any "sun" time..My large room was poolside and I met so many great people from all over..I was traveling alone as a single man and loved that I could just kickback and relax in a comfortable and beautiful enviroment..I will be back...
The Perfect Atmosphere

My stay at La Dolce Vita was a wonderful experience. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotless, with plenty of storage space without feeling cramped. It had all the amenities you would expect: t.v., microwave, etc.... The location was terrific near downtown shopping and great restaurants nearby. Ken and Tim really make you feel pampered with their morning brunch. It's a great place for private relaxation or a chance to socialize and meet some fantastic people.
Run Down, No Service, Bad Stay
by TripAdvisor Member soho17
I called the resort directly to book 2 weekend nights. I think I spoke with one of the owners, who was very professional and friendly. I was looking forward to my stay.
Here are my observations:
This is a very small property that is very hard to navigate. It takes some time to find an exit near your car. The locks on the entrances to the property are flimsy at best, as were the locks on the front and back doors of the room, leaving very little feeling of security.
Upon arrival there was no robe as stated in the resorts amenities (this was remedied right away), the rugs were filthy, the showerhead clogged, there was a slow bathroom drain and a broken safe. The area with microwave and fridge was a closet with no door. The toilet paper was not changed. There was no light on the private patio area. Shall I go on? On Saturday night after the office was closed electricity to half my room went out. There was no one to call. There was no staff.
Apparently there was no staff in the morning as well because my room was never serviced during my stay. There were no fresh towels, no toilet paper changed, and the trash just piled up. It seems that mentioning AVEEDA products as an amenity gets a lot of mileage. They are there alright, and I used them, but again, they were never replenished.
On the plus side, the drinks at the "social hour" were terrific, but not a lot of socializing was going on. A lot of guests were sitting in a very small area being polite to each other. It's a wonder that the numerous heaters on the patio were not used to extend the area outdoors. Yes, it was cold, but then what are these heaters for?
A very disappointing weekend. I would've had more fun if I just threw my $370 bucks out the window of my car on the freeway!
The Best Resort in Palm Springs, La Dolce Vita
by TripAdvisor Member FrenchBoy40
Hello,
My boyfriend and I spent New Years Eve weekend at La Dolce Vita. It is
a fun and friendly resort. The staff is always terrific and Kenny and Tim are the perfect hosts. Beautiful grounds and great rooms say it all. I would highly recommend the resort to any one traveling to Palm Springs and can't wait to return there myself.
I LOVE La Dolce Vita!
by TripAdvisor Member HappyManSanDiego
I just returned from a fabulous trip to La Dolce Vita in Palm Springs, California. During my 5 days I attended the International Film Festival which showcased some very good films. I also saw John Travolta in person and he looks marvelous. Does anyone know how old he is??
I stayed at the beautiful La Dolce Vita Resort in a Roma Suite. It was larger than I expected and had a small sitting area and a writing desk where I sent out the necessary post cards. The room was well appointed and had a frig and microwave oven which was perfect for my "leftovers". The property contains two heated pools that look brand new, and two whirlpools. Their steam room is the best I've ever been in. I love the bathrobes they give us to wear. The grounds were very well kept for such a large space.
The staff was great. Anything I needed was taken care of, almost (wink, wink). and I can't wait to return.
Great Escape

I have visited La Dolce Vita many times and have found it truly deserves the title of resort. Upon entering the property, one is impressed by the lush tropical foliage and sparkling clean pool. The landscaping is well maintained and one cannot help but notice the beauty of the nearby San Jacinto range that provides a backdrop for this resort. A friendly staff member always greets me and makes me feel like my presence has been missed. After a quick review of the posted events, social hour schedule, and maps of the area, I am escorted to my room. Each room is tastefully decorated and very comfortable and clean. The french doors open to one of two pools and I am always impressed by the friendly and professional groups of guests. I have made many new friends during my visits. The staff and owners are very attentive and always upbeat and willing to assist me with additional towels, supplies, and directions. Kudos to the owners for offering a resort that takes pride in offering customer service, a beautiful environment, and a fun, upscale experience!
Relaxing & Comfortable

I had never stayed at a Palm Springs resort before, but I can honestly say it was great! The staff was very professional and showed me around the grounds - which were quite beautiful - pointed out the 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, workout area and even the steam-room/sauna.
Each morning they had a continental breakfast laid out early, which was great, cause I didn't have to walk or drive to the starbucks for my coffee.
I especially enjoyed the comfortable room overlooking the main pool. It was everything I expected and more.
I've already booked another weekend in February for my partners 40th, and we're bringing along some friends. I highly recommend!
Fun & Friendly & Cocktails
by TripAdvisor Member GeoGeorge
The location is great - midway from Hunters to the Barracks - close to the Toolshed. I recently stayed at the place twice - once in a suite with a kitchen and once in room with an outdoor canopy. Both times the rooms were spacious, clean, and they have a film library. The owner/staff were very friendly and have the conceriege thing down pat. They actually remembered me - maybe they keep a file - and gave me a heads up on some things to do they thought I would be interested in. It's great when staff can help make the weekend a success - they knew who was doing what and where, etc. They knew about the wildlife museum, shops, bars, hiking, art, cinemea, outdoor spaces, music, the cost - best time to go, etc.) I actually like having two areas - it's easy to change the scenery - one pool was reading/relaxing and the other was more frisky. The outdoor gym was convenient - though I never got around to it. Breakfast and happy hour cocktails are generous.
Relaxing Atmosphere & Outstanding Staff!!!

I did a lot of research before I selected La Dolce Vita Resort. I was very happy that my hard work paid off when I first arrived at La Dolce Vita. I was especially pleased with the grounds (2 pools, 2 hot tubs and plenty of sitting and lounging areas). Beautiful foliage and fruit trees. My room was quaint and well priced. Beyond all of this what impressed me the most was the friendly and very accomodating staff. The owners, as well as all their employees, exceeded my expectations.
I have stayed at other gay resorts in the past, but now it is hard for me to even consider staying anywhere else in Palm Sprigs other than La Dolce Vita! Thank you to the whole staff at La Dolce Vita for a great stay!!!

Perfect romantic surprise!
by TripAdvisor Member dmikk
It was the perfect romantic get-away for us and I also worked with the staff with a surprise proposal to my boyfriend. The hosts were incredible and were more than happy to help me with my plans. I called ahead to get roses for the room, they went even further with ideas and helped me get the room ready with drinks, cake and even decorations. While taking my boyfriend out for dinner, they got the room ready with lights, candles, and roses...it was perfect and he said yes! We can't wait to come back, since this place will hold many great memories for us in the future, and to celebrate each anniversary. We really felt at home, and did not want leave! The morning breakfast (incredible by the way, even with fresh squeezed just from there trees), happy hours and the friendly guests really made us feel like it was our home for the week. The pool and spa were great and the grounds were very well kept. We look forward to going back for many years to come.

Palm Desert
by Tenzin
I'll be staying at Marriot's Desert Spring Villas for a week end June. Seems to be in the middle of nowhere with little info available in VT and elsewhere. Can anyone help? I'll be most interested to know.
p.s. Is Palm Desert near Palm Spring?
Re: Palm Desert
by YVRDave
The only thing separating them is Cathedral City. They are about 2 miles apart.
You should take the tram up to Mt San Jacinto. The view is great.
If you haven't watched polo before you can watch it in Indio.
My favorite mexican restaurant is JJ's Oasis Latino on N.Palm Canyon Dr. They specialize in pork carnito's(sp) and very frosty beers.
There are lots of options for ballooning too.
I guess golf is a good option too since there are over 120 courses in the valley.

Hi.. Your hotel isn't in the middle of nowhere. It seems that way because its a mega resort with lots of beautiful grounds. All the citys here are connected like a string of pearls. You will be about 6 miles from Palm Springs proper. Palm Desert is one of the biggest shopping areas here. You made a good choice of hotels. One of the best Mexican restaurants is across the street from your hotel DEL RIOS.... YUM :O) have a great trip and let me know if you need any more info.

Palm Desert is the best area...much nicer than Palm Springs. You will be in a great location and the June temp, although higher than Singapore, will be dry, unlike the humidity you are used to.

Should be within driving distance. Getting a car is a necessity over there. Try renting one via www.hotwire.com. The surrounding desert scenery is a pleasure to behold. Be prepared to stay overnight at a motel if you wish to cover the Grand Canyon (who doesn't?). We stayed overnight at an Indian run motel at Williams. 4 of us in a big room for just $70. Great value for money. Perhaps we should have stayed at the Grand Canyon lodgings but it was fully occupied then. A pity since the view of the canyon changes with rise and fall of the sun. Try booking one in advance and tell me about it.
