Palm Spring members and their knowledge of the Viceroy hotel

by galucci

We are going to Palm Springs for the first time in the last part of February and plan to stay at the Viceroy Resort Hotel and Spa. Up until now the staff have been extremely helpful in guiding our trip plans and have also told me so much about Palm Springs and what it might be like to actually live there because I indicated that I was considering this as an option. Therefore rather than just read the reviews for this hotel I thought it might be helpful for our local Palm Springs area members give their feelings and knowledge of the Viceroy because I believe they seem to know this "oasis" really well.

Another idea is to type Palm Springs in the search button ...top right and you will find the travel pages. Florida or California?

Enjoy your holiday.

I don't know much about the hotel as I stayed at another unit, but Palm Springs seems to be a great place. There is, or used to be, a market in the streets at various times of the year. The "down town" area is quite walkable and has some very nice restaurants.

You might also check out Palm Desert just a few miles down the road as well as Indio if you are looking for a place to live.

The summers are rather hot for me otherwise I'd consider moving there but I want to find a place where summers are a bit cooler.

Almost all of the employees in...

by american_tourister

Almost all of the employees in places you visit or dine get by on tips. They have a lot of well heeled customers who are tightwads when it comes to tipping. If you ask them a few personal questions and let them know you are an average person they don't expect a big tip but when you do give them one they will treat you like royalty on your return. Now this this is true almost anywhere else also but it is really apparent here. They appreciate it more than resort people in other places because the ratio of rich to average is much greater here than at almost any other resort area in the world.

The Cabazon Outlets and Desert Hills Outlets

by malianrob

One of Southern California’s premier shopping destinations, the Desert Hills Premium Outlets has more than 130 of the top designers and name-brand outlets, including Coach and Gucci. Right next to it, the Cabazon Outlets has another dozen of your favorites.

This is a great place to shop and get good deals. There are somany stores here with top name brands and cheaper prices. Remember that during the holidays this place is CRAZY!
One thing I didnt know was that there areactually twoamin Outlets here. I thought it was just one big Outlet.

A little bit of country

by HELEN about Bit Of Country

If you are in the mood for a little bit of country for breakfast, Bit of Country is your place. It's a local's joint that is packed every morning. The menu is pretty basic with a little bit of a southern twist. Every item on the menu give you a choice of biscuits and gravy and grits, if regular hash browns and toast is just too basic for you.
The staff is very friendly, the portions are pretty big, and the prices are low. They also offer lunch, but we only tried breakfast.

Desert Memorial Park

by fdrich29

What can I say? This is a beautiful cemetery in Palm Springs, California famous for the many people from the World's Stage who are eternally resting within. Go to the office for a printed map of the famous people who are buried here. They were very pleasant when I requested the location of Frank Sinatra's resting place, and I imagine they get that request quite often. Some of the famous resting here include Frank Sinatra ("The Best Is Yet To Come, Beloved Husband And Father"), along with his father Anthony, mother Natialie ("Beloved Mother, Grand Mother and Great Grandmother") and uncle Vincent Mazzola, along with Jilly Rizzo (He Was The Best), Sonny Bono ("And The Beat Goes On"), Bobbe Van Heusen ("Forever Singing In The Rain") and James Van Heusen ("Swinging On A Star, With Love, Bobbe").
