View of Westin courtyard cafe by pedersdottir Water, water everywhere! A tiled mural fountain greets guests at the main entrance, a lion fountain burbles in the lobby. The courtyard cafe echoes with the splashing and dancing waters of Plaza las Fuentes. With interior stucco and tilework faintly reminiscent of a Moorish palace, the hotel is bright and spacious. Rooms are airy and comfortably furnished in a pleasing, contemporary style. Here, the shuttered windows actually open! Amenities include in-room Starbucks coffee, turn-down service with nightime chocolates on your pillow and terry robes for evening relaxation. Bathrooms are spa-like. Staff are friendly and very service-oriented. When faced with a glitch with our reservation, the front desk promptly corrected it.
The hotel shares the Plaza las Fuentes with several other buildings. Although the Westin's courtyard cafe was charming, less expensive food options were available across the Plaza, at California Pizza Kitchen and McCormick & Schmicks Seafood Restaurant. All three offered good dining and great service. For 3 people the room rate was $180.00. Underground parking with unlimited access added $6.00 to the daily bill. It was convenient and well worth the cost. It looks like a motel. It feels like a charming Bed & Breakfast. The Saga is a very comfortable place to stay in Pasadena. Easy to reach, on Pasadena's main street, the Saga offers a step up in decor and amenities from bargain-brand motels. The lobby and breakfast room surround the traveller with the cozy feeling of a country kitchen. Light wood furnishings and chintz prints predominate in the inviting and comfortably furnished bedrooms. The friendly staff serve up a deluxe continental breakfast with fresh fruits and homemade-looking breads.
The heated pool is enclosed in a garden setting - a relaxing spot to unwind at the end of the day. For longer stays, complimentary laundry service is available. At a AAA rate of $80.00 per day for a double room, the cost is reasonable for the Pasadena area. Parking is free.

by ATXtraveler The entrance to this Westin is about the largest highlight of my stay to this Pasadena hotel. I was not impressed at all with the staff, check-in, room, or valet service here. My first impression was from the GPS system that I use in the Hertz rent-a-car (a must for the business traveler). It did not have the Westin Pasadena in it, because this hotel used to be a Doubletree... so if you are using any GPS navigation, plug in the doubletree if you want to get there. The valet parking was very slow, and did not have a single member that spoke English. The check-in staff was slow, and actually took 3 phone calls to them until they finally could explain how to gain access to their internet. (Tip: If you are checking in, get a username and access code, since there is no way to do it from your room). The bed was the saving grace for this hotel, as it is a Westin Heavenly bed. I was out by page 2... (their commercial on how fast it is to fall asleep). Also, make sure you have your gum or water when you arrive... 5 sticks of sugarfree gum and a bottle of water came to $6!! Front door of the Bissell House by keida84 This lovely victorian mansion was built in 1887 and sits at the south end of what is known as "Millionaire's Row." Although she did not build the house, Anna Bissell McCay, daughter of Melville Bissell inventor of the carpet sweeper lived in the house from 1903 to the 1950's. This is who the house is named for. We stayed in the "Morning Glory" room done in shades of blue and cream. Fresh flowers from the rose garden were on the tables. Morningtime is my favorite time of the day, with the sunlight streaming through the windows on an early summer's morning revealed the apt name for this room. I give the Bissell House a high recommendation and look forward to returning one day.
A most delicious breakfast was served downstairs in the Bissell House dining room; an elegant table laden with china, crystal and candles. An afternoon "tea" with chocolate cake that my husband gorged himself on was presented in the living room. The house has a welcome feel to it, what I mean is I felt comfortable in all the common areas; conversing with other guests and reading a book from the Bissell House library. Since it was summertime, the pool was inviting as well as refreshing, and the robes provided made going up and down the stairs in your bathing suit comfortable. I ended up falling in love with the bathrobes and searched the internet until I found a vendor with a reasonable price. I could have purchased it at the Bissell House but I did not want the logo on my bathrobe. by KiNyA We stayed with Jeannie and Joe, two very nice people who are kind of related with us. At the time we were there their house was located in Madison Avenue (they have moved now). I find the neighbourhood fantastic. It's kind, and not dangerous at all. Theme: Other

So, if you want to choose a hotel right in Old Town Pasadena, this is a good one. Located on Fair Oaks, it's a few blocks north of Colorado Blvd. I have not stayed at this particular Marriott but my boyfriend has when he first moved here. Since he lives in the area, there isn't a reason for us to stay in a hotel in Pasadena.
