Like Sandy said, you won't be able to reach Descanso Gardens via Gold line.

Few different ways you can go though. Please correct me if I'm wrong Sandy or any other VTer that can help out if I'm wrong.

Take the metro bus line 90 from downtown LA (along Hill St.) northbound and get off Glendale Ave/Broadway. Purchase a transfer ticket upon boarding the 90 to catch the Glendale Beeline 3 at Glendale Ave/Broadway. Take the Glendale Beeline 3 northbound and get off on Foothill Blvd/Alta Canyada Rd. Thats about as close as you'll get and then its walking from there (Google it so you can see the distance, city of La Cañada Flintridge).

Take a look at these sites for some helpful info:

Travel Tips for Pasadena

Parking in Old Town Pasadena

by GracesTrips

There are a number of Public Parking structures in and around Old Town Pasadena. Be aware - they do not all charge the same price for parking! Anywhere from free to $6 a pop. This one on Delacey I like because the first 90 minutes is free. Then the most you pay is $2. Just south of Colorado, west of Fair Oaks next to Twin Palms restaurant and across fromthe Union Cattle restaurant.

Frozen Yogurt Supreme

by GracesTrips

Before there was Pinkberry, there was 21 Choices Frozen Yogurt (the original) and it's still there! It will be a cold day in h..e.. double hockey sticks before this place will move over for Pinkberry which is newly establish in Old Town at the far east end of town. This place is always packed with a line often going out the door. Located at 85 W. Colorado Boulevard in Old Town Pasadena at the northwest corner of Delacey and Colorado. Sunday through Thursday 11 am - 11 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am - 12 midnight.

Another Hiking Path

by GracesTrips

This is a short hiking path but not well used which makes it an intriguing hike. The path is very narrow and not completely clear. So, twigs and plants might brush up against your legs as you go. Another strange feature about this hiking path is that it is located in a residential area and not easily seen. Once you hike in, you come to a dry creek bed of rocks which then become the hiking path. At the end of this climb of the dry creek bed you will find a small waterfall. Sunscreen, sun glasses, water, towel.

Pasadena Robinson Memorial

by Dabs

Across from City Hall, there are two giant bronze busts of Mack and Jackie Robinson. You've probably heard of Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in major league baseball in 1947 when he went to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. His brother Mack was also an athlete, he won a silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the 200 meter dash.

Their connection to Pasadena is that they both went to high school and junior college there. Mack stayed in Pasadena so his bust is facing city hall. Jackie's bust faces east towards Brooklyn, NY.

Located on Garfield Avenue, across from City Hall
