More about Sandcastle Inn
Our family of 4 stayed one night and enjoyed this Inn very much. The folks at the front desk were very nice, efficient, and helpful. This almost has a bed & breakfast feel to it.
We had a 2nd floor beachview room which was worth the extra money. Listening to the waves at night is a great way to fall asleep.
Very quiet part of town with shops and restaurants within walking distance. We ate at Rosa'a, an Italian place just up Stimson Ave. about 4 blocks.
The bathroom door needs to be adjusted (would not close properly), the mini frig was missing the dial, and the floor above was squeaky, but all outweighed by the plush towels, robes, CD clock radio, and friendly staff. There's even a pair of binoculars in the room to borrow if you feel like gazing at the adjacent pier.
The continental breakfast was very good. There's no bar here, but a liquor store is just blocks away. We brought back a couple of beers and drank them on the hotel patio overlooking the pounding surf all to ourselves.
We'll be back.
Beautiful room awesome breakfast, unbelievable price
After reading many positive reviews about this hotel on this site, we booked a room through Expedia, getting a rate just over $100 for a non-ocean view room. When we showed up, we found, to our intense delight, that we'd been switched to a room overlooking the beach and ocean!
The hotel and its rooms were spotless. Our room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the large and varied continental breakfast, including very good coffee, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, fruit, orange juice, and both hot and cold cereals (and, of course, doughnuts!). The location on the beach is unbeatable.
No air conditioning!
Typical beach hotel. Staff was nice, but no airconditioning. They did supply a fan, but didn't feel comfortable leaving the sliding glass doors open during the night since someone could easily climb up from street level. Nice little contintental breakfast. Staff was nice. Room was clean. Parking was available. Right on beach. Not bad for a nights stay on way up to Hearst Castle. Only real bad was no A/C.
Best beach front hotel deal in california
This is a fantastic hotel. Location is the best thing about this hotel. The pier and boardwalk is right next to it. The beach sand is just steps from the hotel. Pismo main street is just a few blocks away. Theres some nice beach shops and restaurants. They have this clam chowder place that serves it in a bread bowl. The best restaurant is the spyglass inn restaurant which is a few miles from hotel. The pismo sand dunes is just a few miles away. You can rent a atv and have alot of fun on the dunes. Alot of the rooms have direct views or semi-direct views of the ocean. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Bed is very nice. They serve boiled eggs, make your own giant waffles, french toast, cereal,oj,milk and coffee in their continental breakfast, which is pretty good for an american hotel.
I went during the week before july 4th and cost only $200, if you get there special three night deal. I dare you to find a ocean front hotel right on the sand anywhere in california at this price. Im sure you wont find another.
in regards to previous complaint about no a/c. Its on the beach!!! Its always cooler on the beach then inland. There is no need for a/c. If your concerned about secruity, get a second or third story room. I was there in June and had to keep the door closed at night. It was just too cold, but in the daytime was sweet 80 degrees and sunny.
For my taste, this is the most perfect beach hotel I have ever stayed at.
Stayed one night. Carpet was wet. After showering at night Sewage was in the bath tub in the morning. When toilet was flushed upstairs sewage bubbled up into the tub.
Management sent maintance man, Maintance Man tried to clean up problem and left the room. When management was called back they lied about problem and was arugumentive.
not a lot of peace and quiet
We arrived Aug 6-7, my sister and mom and I. We had a pier view room. The room it self was clean and comfortable but the problem was its location. Just outside across the street are little rental houses and some of the occupants were having a bar-b-que and also a live rock and roll band. The band was okay but if you wanted some peace and quiet and relaxation you were not going to get any. The band continued until ten p.m. Upon check out I brought this up to the clerk and she just gave me a confussed look like I was making the whole story up. I will probably not stay here again and choose a hotel closer to Shell Beach.
Hotel was nice, view was remarkable and breakfast was a great plus. We really enjoyed our stay. There were several children in the Hotel so it was not extremely quiet all day but it was really nice and peaceful. Great to sleep with the sound of the waves and cool air.
Loved the Sandcastle Inn
Upon arriving at the Sancastle Inn, I was impressed. The place was nice, clean, the staff courteous, and the location great! I traveled with my boyfriend and our two young kids, three years old and three months. The Sandcastle Inn is located right on the beach, along the boardwalk and pier. We did not need our car to get around, the town shopping and restaurants were less than a five minute walk away. We ate the continental breakfast in the lobby and lounged in the outdoor spa with a view of the ocean. Our room was nice and had a balcony . Even the tolietries that were provided were beauty store high quality. If I had to name one complaint, it would be that the refrigerator in the room was loud. From the inside out, I was pleased by our choice to stay here and really glad I was able to find us a room here. I used trip advisor to research hotels in the area and read reviews. I would definitely recommend the Sandcastle Inn and would defintely stay here again.
Fish and Chips
We stopped at the Sandcastle on our way down CA1 to LA and found a Jem. It was clean and the staff helpfull but best of all it opens straight on the boardwalk and the beach. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel so we went to get an evening meal, just the sun was setting over the sea and had great fish and chips (almost liking being back home) in a little restaurant in the resort. Just off the main highway this hotel makes a great stopover place but being on the beach you could stay a few days with ease. A good selection in the morning at the free breakfast set us up for the drive to LA
Steps from the beach
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Sandcastle Inn. Upon arrival, the front desk gave us a complimentary upgrade to a ocean view room. Our room was clean and modern and included a mini-refrigerator, which was very useful. Most of all, this hotel is located right off the beach, steps from the pier and all the fun, yummy restaurants. We stepped outside to watch the sunset and had a nice dinner, without even getting in the car.
