Holiday Inn Rancho Bernardo: Great Value for Money

I needed a local hotel at short notice; I checked a few in the area including the Raddisson, Hilton and where we stayed the Holiday Inn all in Rancho Bernardo (we needed to be close to a famly member living locally) All hotels were minimum $130 per night and we needed it for 3 weeks; I used Hotwire and got the Holiday Inn for an excellent rate of $69 per night!!! We stayed in room 220 close to the pool on the second level. The hotel was very clean and tidy; the staff were always friendly and our house keeper Christina was always great at her job and ensured we had plenty of supplies. Most rooms have a balcony looking over the carpark; it's great to get fresh air too. The location is convenient to the freeways and local shopping. Downtown was 35 minutes with a good run. We rarely went down town; for the zoo and a musuem or two; this area has alot to explore so worth a week if you used it for a base. The area Rancho Bernardo is very safe; infact it's surroundings are very well kept and the parks and walkwlays are pleasant to stroll around etc. There's a Elephant bar next door and hooter just up the road; also a short stroll finds a CVS and Taco Bell. I'd recommend this hotel as a great base; we had a great stay; mum, dad & 2 kids under 6 were comfortable here for 3 weeks! We didn't ever have breakfast at the restaurant as it was an extra cost and Denny's was better value. The pool and spa was a highlight; both heated and great for an easy family activity; the gym was basic but good for a business traveller. Good luck with your choice in RB.
