We were looking for a clean, safe, and cheap(ish) place to stay near one of the coastal towns of L.A. Redondo Beach was perfect, only 15 minutes or so by car from LAX. There were so really nice hotels directly on the boardwalk, but since these were out of our price range, we ended up staying at the Palos Verdes Inn. I can't remember the exact price we paid, but I think it was around (or just under) $100 USD/night for a room with two double beds and balcony with an ocean view. The pictures on the website are NOT like the room we got (they are similiar but their photos are very touched up to make it look modernised). This hotel is quite old and when we stayed there (Feb. 2006) they were beginning to renovate some of the rooms. It was perfectly ok to stay there, but the rooms and the hotel is more aged than they actually appear on the website. All in all, a decent place to stay if you are in the L.A. area and want a sea view. Ocean view, hotel restaurant is supposed to be very good (though we never ate there)

Breakfast and other Good Stuff!

Good Stuff is a great place to go for breakfast - sit on the patio and people watch. It's located next to the Coffee Bean, so if you have to wait you can grab a nice coffee. Their food is consistently good, and the wait staff are quick. Plus they automatically provide salsa and Tabasco on the table which I like! Chicken Chile Verde Breakfast Burrito- a large burrito stuffed with brown rice, eggs and Chicken in a verde sauce. Also the California omelette and the Greek omelette are quite good!
Lunch and dinner are good too. Red Hook on tap.

I have lived in the South Bay for over 16yrs. Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach and Hermosa. I have explored many parts of the Beach communities, activities, bars, restaurants and entertainment. I also walk along the strand in Hermosa and Redondo and walk the piers regularly. Cycling and hiking in beautiful Palos Verdes is also one of my passions. There is something for everyone who loves sun, fun and adventure!!

This is looking along Redondo Beach from the Pier. It looks toward Palos Verdes which is a great place to hike or explore the rocky cliffs and beaches. At the far end of Redondo Beach is Torrance and Rat Beach. Here you can watch the surfers and dolphins playing in the water.

"A popular fish restaurant"

If you've visited Redondo Pier you will know where this is. It is so popular on the weekends!.

"Ghetto pimps and their cowgirls and a Madonna!"

We went to the Portofino Party this year for Halloween and had a blast! EVERYONE dressed up to the max! There were two rooms with a live band in one and a DJ in the other! Luckily, they limited the number of tickets to this event to about 400 people so it wasn't as crowded as last year apparently. Nonetheless, the lines for the bathrooms were looping around the building!!
