Not Quite up to Par

Stayed 3 weeks at one of the kitchen, 1 bedroom suites. Hotel fine. Kitchen minimally furnished but doable for short stays for sure. Room service good.

The restaurant is not what they might like it to be. Service is often questionable. Ate breakfast their always (it came w/ the room). Toast was frequently cold ... learned to order it hot and buttered. Other than that, breakfast quality OK. Service from the young lady was generally very good, prompt, cheery. The waiter, though clearly had little experience and couldn't handle very well more than the basic crowd of 3 tables. He wasn't very attentive.

Dinner ... ate there 3 times ... in the lounge (right across from dining room), I think. Service was not the best and the food nothing to right home about. Steaks fair at best. Had a burger ... it wasn't good at all. Wasn't a freshly made patty and overdone w/ texture like leather. Always had overhead lights on for the pool table ... but the table had its own light. This ruined what might otherwise be a quite acceptable atmosphere.

Definately not the fine dining I think they want it to be or advertise it. Not inviting for locals since you normally have to pass through the lobby to get to it. Also the higher prices don't really warrant going there for the middle to low end food and services. The decor in the dining room is terrible (my own opinion). It doesn't invite you in or make you feel comfortable. The materials and furnishings are a bit disjointed. It just doesn't 'feel good'. Great potential, they just have to make some changes.

Unique Quality: Quiet, off main drag which can be REALLY noisy in Ridgecrest. Most hotels are on the main drag. Still fairly directly accessible to the main drag, however.
Nice that extended stay was separate from the main 'nightly' part of the hotel.
No exhaust fans in the bathrooms (fans, but they didn't "exhaust").
