Hi,

Still planning your trip to Sacramento I see.... Well, the econo lodge is on 16th and, while not in a ghetto, isn't a place I would stay, and I will stay in a lot of places! As it is on 16th street, it is 16 blocks to Old Town.

If you are looking for inexpensive motel, I would suggest Motel 6 on 30th Street. It is a bit further out, but Sacramento isn't really that big or busy. If you have a car, it is a snap to drive down to Old Sacramento.

Will you have a car? Let me know if I can give you any help at all.

Jim

Travel Tips for Sacramento

...visit the State Capitol,...

by Christina_C

...visit the State Capitol, dine on the Delta King Riverboat, shop in Old Town, visit the Railroad Museum. Also, you must, if you have time, take an hour drive to the Sierra Foothills and visit the historic Gold Country. My fondest thoughts of Sacramento involve time I spend here with family and friends. What I miss the most would be the Sierra Foothills in El Dorado County, where I spent a lot of my youth running wild with my siblings. We used to take our gold pans to the Cosumnes River convinced we would strike it rich at any moment.

Jelly Belly Candy Company free tour

From San Francisco take I-80 East toward Sacramento. At Fairfield, exit I-80 onto Hwy. 12/Rio Vista. Right at first light onto Beck Avenue. Right onto Courage Dr., right onto No. Watney Way and right onto Jelly Belly Lane. Visitors should always call to verify dates and hours of operation prior to planning their visit.
For further tour information call (707) 428-2838.

the price is around $25-30, it depends a lot on what you order, the atmosphere is really nice, they have Italian music playing all the time. everything is delicious and REAL Italian! Don't forget to drink some Chianti and to have a Panna Cotta for desert.

There are a couple really great restaurants in Sac. I think my absolute Favorite is a place called Tapa the World. They serve Spanish cuisine in an awesome atmosphere. I like sitting out on their patio with friends on warm summer evenings or inside with a big glass of red wine in the fall so I can listen to their guitarist.
Food is inexpensive. Tapas (appitizers) range from 3-7.5 dollars. It's fun to get a few to make a meal. This is a photo of one of the entrees, YUM! the sangria, the mussels, and the filet mignon tips.

Old Sacramento which includes the train museum is a must. They host a huge dixie land jazz festival evey year. Their are lots of great malls for shopping, the capital building tour and capital park are nice.
