It's very hot in July and August, cooler in September. But you don't need to avoid Sacramento in the summer -- most people have air conditioning. They need it to survive there.

Hot with a high temperature average of 33C and a low average of 13C. Besides what the last post said about air-conditioning for cooling off, you could head up to Lake Tahoe, East on Hwy 80, for the mountain air and scenery or really cool off by heading for the Pacific Ocean, West on Highway 80, and the San Francisco Bay area. In San Francisco the average high temp is about 22C and the low about 12C. In the middle of what is summer in California, mid-June through mid-September, it can get very hot anywhere, at any time even over 37C. Lots to see and do besides visiting relatives in California. Happy travels.

Hi,

Yes, it will be hot, or it could be mild, depending on the weather pattern at the time. For example, right now we are in a very hot weather pattern, but it has been known to cool for a period of time also. One thing about Sacramento is that we get what is known as the Delta Breeze. It usually comes in about 4:00 PM and cools things down nicely, so you can sit out and enjoy the evening.

Another factor is the lack of humidity. Our air is very dry so 100 degrees doesn't feel as hot here as in other places with high humidity. I don't know about Oslo's humidity, but I would expect it is high as you are right on the ocean.

Hey, we went to Sweden and Finland in December and January and loved it! You can come to Sacramento in July, Aug, or Sept. I would recommend Sept. if you have a choice. Besides, the people are so friendly in Sacramento!

It's not as bad as you think it is. Sure later in the day and early evenings, the temp. can get a bit hot - upper 90 degrees fahrenheit, but that's about it. Air conditioning solves all that. We have relatively low humidity so it won't be as muggy a feel unlike the midwest.

Travel Tips for Sacramento

Please support your Tower Theatre.

by Waalewiener

Well if you enlarge this picture then you can read on the sign that there is a website
called support this Tower Theatre.
It must be very difficult to upkeep such a large and beautiful Theater; so I guess if someone can lend a hand there I bet it would be appreciated .
Who is that silly guy with his hands up anyways and what is he up to??

Capitol Park

by Geoff_Wright

Just south of the main shopping area you will find Capitol Park, obviously right next to the State Capitol building. A beautiful place to suddenly find yourself in, and seeminly miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets.

I found another surprise here too...

Outstanding Crabcakes

by Agraichen about The Firehouse Restaurant

In the ambiance of an old (ok, only by US standards...a hundred or so) firehouse, complete with Brass Pole (but you can't use it now), Old Town Sacramento hosts a fine dining gem. The appitizer, Crab Cakes made me forget what I even ordered for a main course. Outstanding...

Good Brewpub - River City Brewing

by WulfstanTraveller about River City Brewing

This is a very good brewpub with good food and good beer in the downtown shopping mall/plaza on K St, at the very end near the K St pedestrian walk under the freeway to Old Sacramento. It also has a rotating cask beer, which is nice. It is right in the open plaza near the western end of the mall, so it has outdoor seating, too. They also have a good kids' menu and house-brewed soda pop.

CITY HALL

by karinyeung

A lovely historical building. All white-washed and pretty... A big Christmas tree out during the holiday season. I'm here with my two cousins, Raymond and Shannon, my brother, Ken, Klaudia and Gavin.
