A bed for the night

this Hotel/Motel/Inn is located right by the Senator Rent-a-Car offices, where I hired my car. It's out of town, but convenient for the airport, and was certainly very busy when I called in to enquire about prices. It looked very clean, and homely. I think I'd stay there if I was looking for accommodation.

What is the best hotel between these 5 :

- Hotel Clarion - 700 16th Street Sacramento CA 95814
- La Quinta Sacramento North 4604 Madison Avenue Sacramento CA 95841
- Econo Lodge Sacramento 711 16th St . Sacramento, CA 95814
- Quality Inn 818 15th St Sacramento, CA 95814
- Motel 6 US-50 at Howe Ave 7850 College Town Dr

My criteria :
- safe area
- no permanent occupiers
- parking
- restaurants and shops at a walking distance

An other proposal ?

Thanks

RAY

The Clarion is close to the capital so should be pretty good. If the cross streets are "K" or "J" you're close to "old town". If the cross streets are closer to "A" or "B" then it's a bit closer to the "seedy" side of town. Old Town is very historical and interesting. If you're interested you might even be able to get into a session at the Capital.

I find the Clarion at "G" and 16th so that is on the border of the better side. The Sacramento visitors bureau is located on "K" street, four blocks "up" and two to the right.

If you need more, let me know...

Bon Chance....

NOT the Econo Lodge...bad neighborhood.
Motel 6 is close to the freeway but not within walking distance of anything good.
La Quinta is a good chain but Madison avenue is really in the suburb with nothing to see.
the Clarion is probably OK. It's downtown but it's not such a good neighborhood at night.
I would recommend the Vagabond Inn (check the website: http://pts.placestostay.com/script/gen_prop.asp?hotel_id=10538)
It's within walking distance from Old Sacramento and very close to the huge shopping center called Downtown Plaza.
Prices are between $89 and $119.
Hope to see you when you visit.

Guyon,
In case the above site does not work, try: www.vagabondinn.com
Look for Vagabond Inn Old Sacramento.
I checked their prices for July and they show rooms for $90 and $100.
I have stayed there myself and I think it's a good place because of the location. There is parking and you are within walking distance from the main attractions in Sacramento. Old Sacramento and the Capitol Building.
Did you check my Old Sacramento travelogues on my homepage?

I agree with the others...the clarion is the best between what you listed. I go to sacto alot for business and you may be able to get a discount at the hyatt or holiday inn downtown. At Old Sacto there's an old steam boat - can't remember the name but you can sometimes get a deal with them...
