From San Francisco to Sacramento - WITHOUT USING AMTRAK

by lexalovee

Is there any possible way to do this? I need to get to Sacramento by Thursday this week. $60 budget. No car. Just public transportation. I think a taxi would be way too much. Thank you.

Ya I think greyhound or a local coach service is about your only option

Greyhound buses depart San Francisco for Sacramento at 615am, 1010am, 100pm, 300pm, 400pm, 545pm and 845pm,travel time is 2hr 10min to 2hr 35min the cost if purchased on the Greyhound web site is $22.88 or $26.00. Go to www.greyhound.com to check further. Also be aware that the Greyhound terminal in San Francisco which was at the TransBay terminal is no more, check to see where the buses are now departing from.

Travel Tips for Sacramento

People and their merits seem understanding

by josephljtwrk

This place is enjoyable but... very inexpensive. I really sincerely believe that it is for the perfect. I wonder if I will enjoy it in 60 years. It is too competitive and overbearing. I hope I have the indoctrine to finish finishing ever. What I miss the most is the old way towards of beneficial, reciprocal, and crab like thinking. You get what you pay for and everybody pays for what they get. It was sucessful in the 1900's but today it is on unissued money and borrowing credit lines incomplete and unremoving. Unquestionably below awesome.

Packing List

If you're visiting in the summer plan for hot weather. Dress is casual in most places, and shorts and t-shirts are very common. If you're not used to the sun a hat would be a good idea too. Don't forget the sunscreen if you're coming in the summer.

The "Light Rail" system

by Jeannette1

You really need a car to visit Sacramento.

There is a light rail system which is used by commuters but it would not be practical for tourists.
Public buses are also available but not too convenient for visitors.

California State Railroad Museum

by Geoff_Wright

The California State Railroad Museum is located in Old Sacramento. The museum is a complex of historic facilities and unique attractions, ans is widely regarded as the finest railroad museum in North America.

Opening times are daily, from 10am to 5 pm, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. there is a 'nominal admission fee', whatever that is!
