Enjoy Sacramento. Hope you are visiting for at least a few hours. Amtrak is an easy walk to Old Town which is both fun and educational. Excellent Railroad museum there too.

take a taxi, ask the driver approximately how much it will cost before getting in the taxi.
Re: Transportation from Airport

In Sacramento there is no bus #174 or 194. You need to take the Yolobus #42A from the Airport.
An airport shuttle is $14 for the first person, $11 for each additional person if you share the van. If you want your own van it is $50.
Yellow Cab Co. Taxi fare is $37.20 - $42.78
You should verify all information at the airport web site. http://www.sacairports.org/int/

If your connections are tight then take a taxi, limo, or shuttle. The distance is not all that far, probably 15 miles. I find it hard to believe a taxi would be much more than $20-30. Super Shuttle is the only walk up shuttle/limo provider onsite so call them and ask. (800) 258-3826
Travel Tips for Sacramento
Jubilee Tip #1 - Go to the Firehouse Courtyard
by Hopkid
If you have the chance to go to the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, it can be difficult to decide what venues to hit and what bands to see. But whatever you do, be sure to see a performance in the lovely Firehouse Courtyard. The courtyard is part of the Firehouse restaurant in Old Sacramento and is dominated by two or three large, leafy trees, which is key if the weather is hot as it often is in Sacto during Memorial Day weekend. The shade provides a nice respite from the sun and the atmosphere and setting are the best of all the venues I've been to. Well, it's at least much better than sitting in a hotel conference room or under I-5.
The restaurant also serves a limited special Jubilee menu of food and drink which is a cut above the fair food available at other venues. Go in the early evening (or later if it's really hot during the day) and enjoy a concert al fresco. Seating is limited, however, so get there early and queue up and the volunteers will seat you as seats become available, which is a pretty regular thing so you shouldn't have to wait too long. The main drawback is the carry over sound from the nearby Firehouse Lot venue. Listening to the Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli inspired sounds of Pearl Django in the early evening. It was like we were in Paris. Really.
Summer clothes for Sacramento
by msaardvark
Sacramento like most of California is mostly casual but unlike some of the other tips for this area I don't think running around in shorts and flip-flops in the summer is all you want to do. If you are visiting Old Sacramento or some of the other outdoor venues then its fine but in many restuarants away from the "tourist" areas a little nicer attire is appreciated. It's always HOT during summer but almost always cools off at night due to our "Delta Breeze" so bring a light jacket for the evenings, especially if you'll be close to one of our two rivers. Restaurants and shops are always air conditioned. We do get a touch of humidity but nothing extreme. There are many campgrounds within an hour or so drive but nothing close by unless you count a few KOA campgrounds along the freeway. If you go to the mountains for camping always pack some very warm clothes because even in the dead of summer it gets very cold. Remember it's the Sierras and the altitude can reach 7,000 ft.
Faces Club in Downtown Sac.
by politigal about Faces Club in Downtown Sac.
This is technically a gay bar, but it is by far the best club is Sac so it has been over-run with straight people and anyone will fit in. There are 10 different bars in the club, something for everyone. The people are incredibly friendly and it is the best place to find an after-party if your desire is to stay up past 2:00am. Anything goes at Faces and I really mean anything! If you want to wear a pink feather boa and 8 inch gold platform pumps (guys and girls can get away with this :-) ) that will be just as well received as jeans and a t-shirt.
Andiamo!
by Lithiate about Andiamo!
Upscale appearance with a very relaxed atmosphere. Great music, too! Tommy Special with cheddar cheese and wheat toast. It's an egg & home fried potato jumble, with bell peppers and onions. A very filling breakfast!
State Capital
by patman007
The California State capital is a beautifully architected building with a rich history both inside and out of Sacramento and of California. Take a tour of the building or wander around the beautiful grounds. A very relaxing activity
